I had on Hair Nation today and the woman on there said that Chinese Democracy will be out in November.  Basically, they have no idea what they're talking about.

97.7 HTZ-FM out of St. Catherines said it over 4th of July weekend as well.

Where they heard it I don't know but what the DJ said was, "According to Geffen records Chinese Democracy will be released November 29th. Thats right, November 29th."

Just to add to the list of stations but they're the only ones to point out Geffen records so far. I still have a hard time believing it due to no press release.

Walapino said "it's not coming this year", I said, "I'm pretty certain" - big difference - one is stated is fact, one is a suggestion  Roll Eyes

Why am I pretty certain? Just a good feeling based on many indicators

I guess Mercks comment, members saying it's finished the november rumours etc...

yeah I know its a stretch given how many times we've been in this situation, but c'mon - surely Axl realises he can't wait much longer?

ROCK AND ROLL A WAY OF LIFE

« Reply #1931 on: July 12, 2005, 02:29:31 AM »

According to Pause & Play, Geffen Records has set a November 29, 2005 release date for the long-awaited GUNS N' ROSES album, "Chinese Democracy".

"Chinese Democracy" will feature the band's first new music since "Oh My God", the group's contribution to the soundtrack to the 1999 movie "End of Days".

GUNS N' ROSES' last studio album was a covers CD, "The Spaghetti Incident?", which was released in 1993.

In March 2004, Geffen Records issued a GUNS N' ROSES "Greatest Hits" album, which has since gone on to sell 2,195,937 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

GUNS N' ROSES singer Axl Rose and fellow original members Slash and Duff McKagan tried to block the "Greatest Hits" album's release by arguing in a lawsuit that Geffen Records was putting out the CD without their input. Geffen officials countered that they wouldn't have released the album if Rose had delivered the long-promised album "Chinese Democracy", which has been in the works for 10 years.

Could you give us a link?? The Pause & Play website only lists Madonna's record coming out on the 29th...

If memory serves me correctly, Pause and Play retracted this story. But there is plenty of other people throwing this same date around. Let's all pray to God that its true this time.

Maybe Pause & Play repeated it when they get sure about release date? I don't know, do you have link to this "news"?

I highly doubt there is a link because this story was retracted. Its old news anyway. If you want to read about it, just go back a page or two in this thread.

I think there are plenty of other people throwing the date around because Pause and Play is the source of the information, rather than Geffen, itself.

Let me clue you all in on something (and I know many of you know this already): DJ's don't know shit.  They get their information in much the same way we do.  They talk about it just like we do.  The difference is, in many of their cases, they're reaching a wider audience.  Just cause a DJ says it, don't make it true.

Until the label and/or Axl gives the date....it ain't the date.

The thing that intrigues me is the number of stations and websites citing this date. I can't remember but did a release date actually get announced on the radio in previous years?  Huh

I dont think radio stations have ever done this before with CD. It was always internet speculation. There hasn't been release date talk on the radio like this since the months preceding Illusions.
