rumorboard doesn't report it as their own info, but they report it as it is...

No, I think what he meant was: A concert review is posted somewhere with info on the album, that's posted on the rumor board and then somebody says "Well, the rumor board says it's done" and suddenly it seems like it's some inside info. When in fact, it's something we read in a concert review.

I'm guessing spring now...

It stands to reason that would be the case:

1) March-April often are "big release months" Jan and Feb are traditionally not

2) Assuming it is true the album was mastered this fall, and richard's comments were accurate (as well as Tommy's quote the "record wemade togehter")...if the album's done, the group and mgt would most likely want it out prior to a tour of Europe during the summer festivals (which seems to be the logical place for a tour to start).

Axl's scatter brain doesn't always allow for logic though....

havent made a quote on here in a while but...

i must say that over the past 4 years since i started college i have frequently visited this site hoping to see the headline "Chinese Democracy has been Released."  and what i have realized is that no matter what rumor is said, no matter what any band memeber says, no matter what happens....you can never count on anything to be a real sign of the release of the album.  members have said it before me, members will say it after me, but it will hold true as long as CD is not in our hands.

I feel that if CD was in the record company's hands, then they would release it after a well planned marketing plan has been devised (which it probably already has been several times).  They wouldnt care about when the market is good because Axl has been screwing around with this album for 12 years or however long its been.  They just want to make some kind of money off of it.  If it was finished and tommy said so, then its probably been finished for a while.  the record company probably would have tried to release it before christmas.  If anything, i feel as though Axl is still screwing around with something on the album...maybe even debating whether or not to release it.  He ultimatly controls when the company will put it out.

all im gonna do is check out this site everyone once in a while still hoping to see that headline: "Chinese Democracy has been Released."  when i see that, im gonna head on over to the record store and purchase me a copy.  until then, i aint gonna waste too much time waiting.

Well my friends I just checked a few sites like cdplus.com and there is still no planned release date for Chinese Democracy.  Will 2005 be another year of disappointment and false promises again? Sad  Man I can't wait for Axl to get out of his Brian Wilson phase.

I might be mistaken, but I think I read a preview of that somewhere...If I'm right, it was mostly technical stuff (i.e. only of interest to musicians) and there was nary a mention of GN'R.

Do you really think that an online CD store is going to break the news of when Chinese Democracy is released?? And you think that because they don't have a CD on there upcoming new release schedule as of December 20th, 2004, that it won't come out at all in 2005??

Sorry..I don't think CDPLUS.COM is going to break any news regarding if/when this
thing is released. It means nothing, whether a CD shop mentions it or not.

Does anyone think that a Xmas day announcement is a good idea and furthermore a feasible idea?

A Christmas day announcement is practically impossible.  Although I believe that Chinese Democracy will eventually be released.  The announcement won't be on Xmas day.  Will it be out in the next year?  Only time will tell.  Personally I hope it does come out when Axl is ready to release it whenever that may be.  That way we will get a great album and on his part he will get the satisfaction that he did the best he could on this album.

Why would you say it's impossible? Feasibly it could be done and would garner further attention to an album that already has an air of the bizarre about it - at least in the eyes of joe-public.
Coupled with this, it would make a hell of Xmas for alot of GN'R fans

What's "Xmas"? A celebration of the birth of the letter X?

Doing a Christmas anouncement is a terrible idea since most people are spending time with their family and have the outside world on mute. Other then people like us who visit HTGTH daily, no one would hear about it if it were anounced on Christmas. And for the most part "joe-public" doesn't even know that GN'R still exists in any way shape or form, let along about Chinese Democracy.

fairly self- explanatrory what Xmas is Id have thought, anyway...

true, people are engaged on Christmas day you are right - but this info would filter through media outlets in the following days/weeks and hence would still have impact as something newsworthy. eg "Reclusive former Rocker announces album release on Christmas Day" or somesuch.. - Im well aware that the vast majority of people arent aware of the current status of GN'R, however many are aware of Axl's erratic, inconsistent behaviour and hermit-like existance - like i said there is still the sense of the bizarre that is attached

Just a thought - nothing is too weird or bizarre an idea where Guns are concerned

Hi everyone. Although this is my first post as a "member" of the forum, I have been reading this board for at least the past six years. I remember when "Oh My God" was first rumored to come out and some douche bag named "Queenie" was on the Board talking about God knows what. I first caught wind of Buckethead because Jarmo posted a link to download an mp3 of his. I remember thinking that Buckethead's playing would never fit the band because of its techno-type sound. My previous notions were soon put to rest on 01/01/01 when I saw GNR perform at the House of Blues in Vegas. Although the new band was incrediblely tight behind an unbelievable voice, no new material was officially released. The following year, when GNR performed at the Joint on the first show before New Years Eve, I was equally as impressed, even though the rumor outside the casino was that Buckethead had quit and Dave Navarro had replaced him. Nevertheless, I never gave up hope that someday Axl would release a new album. I have continued to check Jarmo's page more that twice a day, every day, hoping that sometime soon, I would find a post entitled "Chinese Democracy's Official Release Date Announced." Until this day happens, I will continue to refresh Here Today Gone To Hell's main page on my browser.

For all those who are growing impatient, relax. Rock n' roll can't be rushed. It just has to happen.
