"WHY EVERY TIME WE GOT SOME "GOOD NEWS" ABOUT THE ALBUM THERE?S SOMETING LIKE THAT TO BUM US 2 SECONDS LATER?"

It was the first thing I rememberwhen I've read this topic...

Blabbermouth.net has posted the news from VH1, and I'm sure other sites will follow.

GUNS N' ROSES: 'Chinese Democracy' To Arrive In November? - July 5, 2004

GUNS N' ROSES' long-awaited new album, "Chinese Democracy" is now slated for a November 2004 release through Geffen Records, it was revealed during VH1's GNR documentary "Behind The Music: Guns N' Roses", which premiered Sunday (July 4). The CD will feature the band's first new music since "Oh My God", the group's contribution to the soundtrack to the 1999 movie "End Of Days". GUNS N' ROSES' last studio album was a covers album, "The Spaghetti Incident?", which was released in 1993.

I wonder what will happen when other sites pick the news up? Should make for some interesting reading.

If mysteron is right and it's not released by november, it will make axl look worse than he already does, little do they know what we already know, but i think the last paragraph in the following article sums it up well

If EVERYONE in the world told me its coming in Nov of 2004 except Axl I wouldnt believe it. Axl lives in his own world. I can see them setting a date and Axl not finishing it on time. Until W. Axl Rose tells me its coming I wont believe management, VH1, or online sources

Whether it's Geffen (as I suspect), or just a few rogue industry insiders, or just some bitter asshole, someone has really put Axl's nuts to the fire in a big way by getting this November thing put out there, via MB's and now Vh1. There is a set expectation date announced on a national network (was not edited out as of Monday's airings), and many in the industry will hold Axl to this now...even if it isn't Geffen, it moves them closer to being able to say they can cut ties. Of course, if this is a management ploy (deny and attack?) for getting buzz until they get everything confimred and their promotion machine working...then they're doing their job well. nervous confused

Is it just me or doesnt anyone else think Axl would make the release date and not let it leak out. The fact Buckethead has left I think if anythign would slow down the album.  I think VH1 just said that for one of two reasons:

1)They wanted hype for their show and have something new for the GnR Fans.

2)They just wanted to wrap up their story, afteral there BTM story of GNR paints a completely inaccurate picture of GnR. According to VH1 Dizzy doesnt exist

Sure Dizzy exists.... but as far as GnR goes he has about as much song writing credit as Roberta.  VH1 wasnt entirely accuracte... or atleast didnt always take the more popular angle of how things really went down.   But they basically told the story pretty well as far as fitting the entire history of GnR in one hours worth of story.     Also im sure any current member of GnR could have told their side of the story... but they all declined to be enterviewed....  thats their choice.

This also meens that Axls statement about givin a release date soon was pure bullshit.

Yeah I forgot about that release date coming next few months thing. When did he say that again, a few months ago? Another statement so vague that it means nothing.

could that VH1 "announcement" be the Axl's promised release date announcement?

Maybe it's a gimmick from the producers? Not breaking the cycle in rumoured release dates...

It's starting to become a classic now Wink

being in a new relationship has nothing to do with a song or whatever'

axl had his new love stephanie seymour in november rain and dont cry 2 songs clearly not about her

i have songs about ex's and the new girl im talkin to doesnt mind cause art is art, songs are songs

if anything a woman will inspire him to finish and release chinese democracy

Prince fell in love and released a 3cd 36 brand new song box set

so love wont delay axl

but u want the truth

if axl is in love and has found happiness and doesnt want to do music anymore

i hope he never releases chinese democracy, id rather axl be happy and content than be miserable and release CD

I was joking.

I was just conjecturizing about the fact that if Axl's taken all this time to come up with the lyrics - sad, deep lyrics in Maddy and the Blues - now due to the sudden twist in his emotions ( he's in love) he would make sure to change the lyrics again, hence the delay.

And to be honest, I hope Axl is happy as well, but I wish he release the damn cd. As far as I'm concerned, I've never met the guy nor I think I ever will. I rather have the cd despite Axl's happiness. That Cd will make me happier than the fact that Axl has found love.

I don't know what Axl is afraid by... I mean with music like Madagascar and The blues, he will sell MILLION RECORDS. He won't fail because these new songs are GREAT, because  he is called Axl Rose and because he is the leader of a legendary band called "Guns n' Roses".
Or is he afraid because it will be a success and because of the future pression that will come with the success? that's another question...

Gn'R's management would not say that a release date is planned until they officially announce it, even if they were planning it internally.  The Behind the Music was supposed to premiere today, and it's still early in the morning most places.  If there was a plan, and the plan was to have the Behind the Music help promote the album by dropping that fact, and for whatever reason, it aired a little early, at this point, we still wouldn't have an official announcement and Mysteron's information is exactly what you'd expect management to say.

Honestly, I would actually expect, if there was an announcement planned "soon" that they would respond with a "No comment at this time" type of statement.  What they gave was too strongly worded, and too specific, IMHO, to give much hope that the announcement of a release date is imminent.

But I guess we'll have to do what we always do...wait and see.

The way I look at it VH1 has nothing to gain from making up a rumored release date (unless it's a jab at Axl for his lack of cooperation with the BTM). They had to have gotten it from somewhere. I also don't put alot stock into a message board visitor telling us the reaction of Axl's managment team. If his PR staff was worth anything they would realize that a nationally advertised release date that comes and goes will only further destroy Axl's credibility. Why tell Mysteron and not issue an official statement.

Granted I don't think we will see it in November, but I wouldn't throw the brakes on just cause Mysteron's "Fax Machine" went off after the show.

Blabbermouth has just covered this rumour.

Perhaps if it spreads enough the record company will be forced to make an official statement, one way or another as to the status.

Fingers crossed this is the real thing.

Riiiiiiiiiight....As we know, the record company has been quick to shoot down ALL the rumors over hte years.  They'd be putting out a press release every ohter day of they responded to EVERY rumor.

Wake me in late November.  We've heard it all before.  From people like Axl and his manager.  Let me guess, they're gonna try another fall tour in the U.S. too?

You make it sound like this is a rumor from a one post wonder that we see in here. This is VH1 announcing a release date on there most highly rated show. I can see Sanctuary or Geffen ignoring Danny making up a rumor on htgth, but to say that they would ignore a nationally announced release date is ignorant. If this date comes and goes it make Guns N' Roses look that much more ridiculous, unless a statement comes out imediately shooting it down as false.

True, that's a good point.

I woke up this morning and couldn't find a reason to be hopeful about it.  I hope Mysteron has some luck finding out where VH1 got their information from.

My theory is that Universal/ Geffen/ Interscope does want the album to be released in november and will probably "force" the release when the time comes (unless GN'R willingly release the album themselves). That could explain the management's reaction. They also said "Buckethead had a contract" but a few weeks later Axl himself announced he had indeed left the band.

GN'R's management motto is: "Deny everything".
