there are very average players in the US leagues that haven't even played for the USA earning more than Lampard or Gerrard are.
I don't think so. Those guys make over 100k UKP/week which is around $10m/year. MLS had to make a new rule so they could pay Beckham so much.
http://www.eufootball.biz/Finance/121006-MLS-to-change-salary-cap-rules.html
"At present, the highest-paid player in the MLS is Chivas USA's Juan Francisco Palencia, who earns a basic salary of USD 692,308 and a total of USD 1,360,000 after guaranteed bonuses."
edit: I guess maybe you meant in other sports.

lawl ?16.5 million for Bent - what are Spurs thinking?
(probably about ensuring they never finish higher than 5th)
Charlton must be laughing their asses off

So Barcelona get Thierry Henry for ?16 million and we get Darren Bent for ?17?
Alright, so the Barcelona figure will rise and ?17 million is the absolute maximum once you factor in appearances and such, but still.........

well Torress has signed for 'pool
If Chelsea had bought him it would be wall to wall coverage, we'd have all the tired old plundits talking about such a quality buy......Liverpool get him and it merits a footnote....

I'm really looking forward to this season. All top 5 teams have gotten stronger with the exception of Chelsea which I don't see has gotten noticeably better. But who knows. The Spurs got Bent who's been really good in preseason, and it could be that they can really push for the top 4 this year. One week to go.
Forgot to add that if you want, I've made a HTGTH league to

, and feel free to join. I haven't played it past years, but I thought it would be a sort of a cool way to pass time. The code for joining the league is 456579-111286.

Wahey! nice to beat Spurs, was a pretty dull match except the last 5-10 minutes. Was surprised how badly Spurs strikers played, all four of them. I was really pleased with Mc Shanes performance. And a pretty good reaction goal from Chopra

I'm not that worried about saturday's loss, but I'd like to see something happen out there tuesday when Everton visits the Lane. Not to take any credit away from sunderland... they played a very disciplined game and though the late goal wasn't what I had in mind, I don't think Jol would've been all that much more pleased had he gotten a point from the game.
