I think not playing Upson was a big mistake. I've rated him from the second I saw him playing at Highbury, he would have made the perfect replacement for Tony Adams.
However, frustratingly, Upson got a nasty long-term injury just as he was starting to get into the first team, and I guess Wenger just made plans without him. Big shame, and a good English centre-back is
exactly
what the team needs right now. Well, another one, I mean.

Nice to see Robbie scoring for the Republic
Now they need to win
both
of their home games...
I fucking hope they qualify.
I have no worries that England will, but it would be great to see Ireland and Scotland at the finals as well.
And hopefully England will have another chance to show Scotland who's boss
Gazza's goal in 96? [yes]

Interesting you (sorry, your name escapes me) answered Exeter. I just thought I'd make a point about the general ignorance shown towards where I come from, the Souh West of England. I don't mean all this in a nasty way, but the rest of the country seems to be oblivious to the fact that Devon's not just a huge farm with a few villages and gardens. And a bloke on a tractor going 'ooh argh'!
Anyway, the correct answer to my question was... Plymouth. A city (the only real one in Devon) with a club with massive potential, that (touch wood) will be realised in the next few years. We might not have a rich chairman like some, but we're making our way up the leagues with one of the best managers around (Paul Sturrock), a board who are fans of the club (which is something sadly lacking at most footy clubs) and an away support that puts most other teams' to shame. GREEN ARMY!!
So on the subject of Exeter I'd like you all to know that I cheered when they went down to the Conference and they deserve everything they fucking get, scum! [ok]

Looks like signing Kewell may actually be a possibility. I'd be thrilled with that.
However, I think selling Pennant would be a
big
mistake.

Leeds are gonna be shit next season...but they gotta sell cos they're in about 70million debt or something [rofl]. Kewell probably will go to arsenal now...and is Paul Robinson leaving? Cos, you'd expect either Man U or Arsenal to want him, after Seamens left and Barthez is a pile of shit.
On a more depressing note, Sunderland are selling all their good players (yes we do have one or two...or at least..thats what they tell me...) and we're gonna be even shitter next season. Oh well...FTM... [hihi]

haha its even more ammusing for me cos i know no matter how many times i here that from you lot, we are still better than your scum of a team and will be for years to some. i'd be suprised if you come straight back up next season but yet thats all i hear from my mackem friends, they are silly. haha.
dont know whether its been in the national rags but our local paper is still insisting that we are in talks for ronaldinho with robert in exchange. personally i doubt it will ever come of anything especially as man ure and real want him, but apparently fat fred is in talks with his brother this week. we'll wait and see

So, Beckhams gone, quite a small fee considering the silly money that was changing hands a few years ago. I for one, am quite surprised he went though...I mean, I didn't think he had the mental cpacity to learn Spanish... [rofl].
But joking aside, this is crap for the England team, especially as he's the captain, but not only that, now Scholes, Neville and him won't be playing for the same club, so, even though they've been playing together for years, the chemistry won't be as good.
And, who are Man U gonna get to replace him?
And, how many midfielders do Real need? I mean, Figo, Zidane, Beckham, they're probably the three best attacking midfielders in the world, how will any team stand a chance?
I think it was a bad move on Man U's part, and I personally think Newcastle are gonna win the league next season.

fee wasnt that small. could rise to over ?23 million thats not small considering beckam is not the best player in the world as many people seem to rave on about. he is essentially a product, exactly the reason why he has gone to madrid they collect them like pannini football stickers. wouldnt be suprised if the mayor of madrid demanded they be like this following him getting them out of financial trouble a few years back.
i too think we will win the league this season but hopefully we sign a few decent players. we could do with emerton right sided and can take over from the ever so dodgy solano who at times is fantastic but someitmes he seems to have left his head on the quayside. plus emertons from oz they only drink half pints (well on neighbours they do) so tehre's no chance of him joing the ever increasing list of NUFC AA memebers. if we get rid of robert we will need another winger as well cos although ppl can fill in we dont have anyone to play there full time.

Personally, I think Beckham earns Man Utd a lot more than ?25m when it comes to advertising and stuff. He's a hugely overrated player, but financially he's a chairman's dream!
I want Kewell. I want Kewell a lot.
But I also want a goalkeeper, a defender, Pennant and Roberto Carlos, and we only have ?10m to spend, so...

I was just thinking about Man U and Kewell and I reckon if they want him, they will get him, because, as a player I'm sure he'd rather play for Man U than Arsenal (no offence to Arsenal).
I think either Man U or Arsenal will get Robinson though, because both need a new keeper. I personally would prefer to see him at Arsenal, just because I hate Man U, but, Man U seem to have a way of signing anyone they want...maybe cos they win lots of things...who knows, but they're tossers. I think we should turn this into a random abuse of Man U thread.
Or Newcastle, either will do...

You've already got half of Leeds' best players. Leave them alone!
Kewell says he doesn't want to play for Man Utd cause of the way they treated Beckham. However, now Barcalona want him, and they have money...
Anyhoo: Man U are a horrible, scummy team that revolve around advertising and exploiting their fans.

Sour Grapes if you ask me!
Man Utd have done more for English football than any other team since the premier league started.
Instead if bringing the french national squad over here.. we have brought through english youngsters and the majority of our squad is made up of british isles players.
Kewell would be a good signing for utd... but he'd hardly be first team would he? he'd be back up for giggs or ronaldinho if we get him... thats why he didn't want to sign really and he knows it.
I'd prefer Queresma, Van Der Vaart, Djemba Djemba, Ronaldinho, Robinson and maybe Joe Cole.
I'm gutted about Beckham and i think he will fit nicely in to Real Madrids side... good luck to him.
Anyway on the up side Arsene Wenger might go to Real Madrid. I hate him so much... he only wants to stay at Arsenal if the stadium is improved and if they give him more than 15 million to spend... Wow how Loyal... CUNT
I hear today Veron wants to go to Italy... oh well... i rate him but if he wants to go let him.... as a replacement we should get Scott Parker from Charlton

Vicente del Bosque (coach) and Fernando Hierro are done with Real Madrid, it felt so cold as a Real Madrid fan, I hope they find a good replacement in the bench. Rafael Marquez, who used to play with Monaco could be a good change.

I think its aweful especially about Hierro... he is like Mr Real Madrid... But then they have Mr Real Madrid jnr in Raul.
Looks like utds no 2 is gonna take over from del bosque. I suppose your expected to win it all at real madrid.
Whoever takes over is gonna inherit a fucking amazing team check this out:
Casillas
Salgado
R.Carlos
Helguera
Pavon (although they will probally sign someone)
Figo
Zidane
Makelele
Beckham
Ronaldo and Raul
oh and the bench:
Guti
Morientis
Portillio
McManaman
Flavio Concecieo
In fact all they need is a couple of decent defenders and its pretty much the perfect squad
