West Ham boss Alan Pardew has warned potential suitors of the London side that he would rather quit than perform as a puppet for any new owner by being told which players to pick.

The Hammers are currently involved in 'exploratory discussions' over a potential takeover, with Kia Joorabchian refusing to rule out a future bid for the Premiership club.

The Iranian-born businessman was instrumental in shocking the football world by bringing Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano to Upton Park on transfer deadline day, and rumours have circulated that as part of the deal Pardew is required to play the Argentinian duo at every opportunity.

However, the Hammers boss has taken offence at such a suggestion, underlining that if he was ever told which players to select he would walk out of the London side.

"If anybody tries to tell me what team to pick I will go. I will not accept that and I want to make that clear right now," said Pardew.

"I won't accept that and I make that quite clear now so if there is a potential owner thinking that might happen, he best think again or he better think of somebody else.

"I am very proud of not just what I've done but also what my team's done.

"To think I would put that at risk in terms of somebody selecting or even implying that I would have to pick certain players, I just wouldn't accept it.

"It's not what me or my team are made of.

"The most important thing is that through whatever happens - and let's be honest I don't know what's going to happen in terms of the ownership of this club - we want to go forward from here because we've come a long way."

I'm not trying to deny that there might be somethin unusual goin on here, but I'm pretty certain, West Ham or at least Alan Pardew has nothing to do with it.

I love his ''i'll walk if new owner tells me what to do'' routine - as if a new owner would keep him as manager anyway!!

He seems to think of himself as rather better than the rest of the football world does

Crouch again -? this is a sign of the apocalypse - if Heskey and Diouf start scoring i'm moving to the nearest bomb shelter

Truly these are evil days indeed - have defenders forgotten Crouch is a abysmal or is it because they think he's abysmal they mark him so poorly???

And when will he start scoring for Liverpool?!?

Well done Northern Ireland - i mean.....wow! And do Spain do this deliberatly? How do they manage it?

scotland winning? northern ireland winning? crouch scoring for fun (and not all of his goals have come from pulling people's hair or climbing up there back's neither). This is an omynous and dreadful sign as foretold in the bible and by nostrodamous - and i quote - "when that lanky fuck starts scoring you know we're all fucked". one of his more precise premonitions.

i'm sure if i look out my window i'll see the four horsemen of the apocolypse

Sorry i meant to say 'scoring consistently' - Crouch goes on 2-3 match runs where he scores - then vanishes for 6 months nervous

Yes, that's been his history, but he may finally be coming into his own now.  I realize 25 isn't that young for football, but it takes a long time for very tall players to become fullly coordinated (not that he ever will be).  But in any case, it's difficult to argue now that he's not a dangerous finisher.

Hey right now crouch is the in form striker in international football. Simple as that.

Would i want Englands only chace in a game to fall to him . . probally not but he wouldn't be far down the list and any defender will tell you how tough he is to play against

Still, my intense frustration that certain players haven't realised that they can't walk the ball into the back of the net was tempered by the sight of Cashley Tweedy sitting on the bench today. rofl

Did we ever try running at defenders today?? People talk a lot about how we never use the wings but we rarely seem to take players on either.? We literally just pass the ball around.

No point going down the wing and crossing, we haven't got anybody who can head the ball.

and Ryan Giggs is fantastic!

I was shocked that when he was announced Player Of The Month last Friday, it was the first time he had ever won it.

I have a grudging respect for him and I actually thought he was a spent force, but it would appear he is having something of an Indian summer in his career.

I just hope he trips over a twig or something this week and doesn't play next Sunday. nervous
