And after the World cup Lampard had . . Will he be on the bench instead of Hargreaves.
Yes, please!!
Somehow i doubt it.
Just think they needed a scapegoat and who better than the ageing captain so Mclaren can show whos boss. I just think its a disgrace it can't be done on form . . coz Lampard is still there and it can't be age coz Gary and Phil neville are in there. . .So Why?
The only Answer i can guess is formation. . that beckham's particular style doesn't quite fit into what McClaren wants to do.
I reckon he could go to Venables Christmas Tree but then you wouldn't play wingers.
Just think Rooney and Cole off a striker with Hargreaves, Gerrard and Lampard in Midfield. Just a theory

At the world cup we scored 6 goals and what 3 came from crosses, 1 from a free Kick, a wonder volley from joe cole and a strike from outside the area. . . Maybe we should have crossed it more.
If you don't cross the ball how predictable will we be. It will be if you mark rooney well you win.
And you dont have to be tall to score from a beckham cross . . Andy Cole and Dwight Yorke seemed to do ok as did Van Nistelrooy.
He's not just a good crosser . . he is the best in the world!
and that goes for free kicks and corners too.

Exactly but when you have the threat of both of them its harder to defend against.
I'm not saying he should start but he is good enough for the squad.
I bet you were loving him when he scored that free kick against Greece and i bet you even cheered when he scored against Ecuador.

Exactly, thats a english football fan right there. Forget what he has done for us and jump on the bandwagon.
and then we ask why player leave their clubs for more money its coz people turn on them like that . . so why not take the money coz fans dont really care.
You dont have to like him as a person but you know nothing about football if you think he has not been one of Englands best players of the past 10 years

Saying that Becks is only good at crossing and free kicks is a very superficial evaluation. Looking at him closely, you'll see that he recovers a lot of balls, he's always the clear head in the midfield and his long passes forward create chances, especially with 2 fast forwards like Rooney and Owen.
? Hating him because of his lifestyle is retarded, especially since he's not what the press makes of him. He's a calm, down to Earth guy, as seen in a lot of interviews, and his level of determination on the pitch is exemplary for any young player.

I reakon this is a temporary thing - he will hit 100 caps in the long run. I don't think he should start for England again but when it's late on and we need a goal we've gotta use him, especially if Crouch is on the pitch as well. I don't understand people who still criticise Beckham's performances.
1) We need to look to the future. Does anyone really think Beckham can have an impact in the European Championships in 2 years, if we qualify? We should be encouraging Aaron Lennon and SWP and giving them international experience.
2) Peter Crouch cannot head a ball for toffee, Michael Owen scores more goals with his head. Lumping the ball forward to a big man is a sign of desperation, and an indication that England simply have not mastered the basics of football. And until that is changed, we will never win another major tournament.

Did england show up at the world cup?? Well, i guess your English Civility was your downfall yet again as you were just too darned polite to actually play well - it would be rude for any one of your 11 world beaters to destroy all the diddy nations you came up against; yes, far better that you should struggle through in an easy group and then lose to an unexcceptional portugal team.
We won more trophies than you did this summer.
And you seem to be on a different wavelength to most - certainly myself concerning beckscum.. You keep claiming he's a great player and so forth. Very few people are disputing this, certainly not me. The reason i and many others hate him is because he is a tosser. Now, if you like him then thats your decision to make, but for the life of me i can see how it can be disputed that i hate him. he's a squeaky voiced, shaven-ferret hair cut having, bimbo-beanpole shagging, product endorsing MORON. Cos he is.

He endorses products to make money, you probably would too if someone offered you a few million quid to wear a pair of shoes. What he then does with his money is his business.
It's just plain sad that a man's voice, haircut and wife can make him hated.

no, i wouldnt endorse something unless i honestly believed in the product if i already had beckhams money. you do a commercial and you lose the right to say that you speak for yourself. any word that comes out of your mouth is tarnished and doubt surrounds your every motive. he sold himself.
And i think they are perfectly good reasons to hate someone. You just think its sad because you like him. You're not mentioning his being a moron was conspicuous by its absence.

Community Shield today - Chelsea win for sure 2-1, Chelsea will go two clear at one point before a late Liverpool goal
Would be nice to see what our new signings can do - i have faith, but i'd have liked something a little more...well.....impresive, than Craig Bellamy, when everyone else is signing massive stars for tens of millions we do seem somewhat backwards
Not that money=quality, Benitez gets players for a few million that perform better than has-beens Chelsea drags in for a fortune

Steven Gerrard has branded Manchester United winger Cristiano Ronaldo "a disgrace" for his part in the sending-off of Wayne Rooney in the World Cup quarter-final last month.
The new England vice-captain was furious with Ronaldo, who intervened after Rooney appeared to stamp on Portugal defender Ricardo Carvalho and then winked towards his own bench after his Red Devils team-mate had been dismissed.
Gerrard, whose autobiography is being serialised in the News of the World, wrote: "Sadly a dark side stains Cristiano Ronaldo's game. His part in Wayne Rooney's dismissal was a disgrace.
"What really (got to) all the England players was Ronaldo's wink to his bench. It was a wink which said 'job done'. How could he do that to his Manchester United team-mate?
"On the bus after the game Wayne asked me 'what do you think about the wink?'.
"'Honestly, Wazza, if we were playing Spain and Xabi Alonso or Luis Garcia winked at the referee or gave a signal for me to be sent off, I'd never speak to them again."
When Argentinian referee Horacio Elizondo halted play and then brandished a red card, Gerrard initially thought it was for a Portuguese player.
"Then to my horror I realised it was Wayne walking slowly off," the Liverpool skipper continued.
"Players like Carvalho are damaging football, not Wayne Rooney.
"It's coached into them that when an incident like that happens, they go to work on the ref.
"Ronaldo was at the front. But the blame does not just rest with him. Five or six Portuguese players were at it."
Gerrard believes England's players' cockiness in the World Cup cost them dearly.
"We are not as good as we think we are. England were guilty of over-confidence. Me and the other players constantly claimed we could win the World Cup, it was stupid."
As highly as i do rate gerrard, i've got to say this annoys me. You'd think no england/english or liverpool player, certainly not Steven himself, had ever taken a dive or made an effort to have another player booked or sent off. Fuckin one rule for us and another for the colonies. And what really annoyed me?
"On the bus after the game Wayne asked me 'what do you think about the wink?'.
"'Honestly, Wazza, if we were playing Spain and Xabi Alonso or Luis Garcia winked at the referee or gave a signal for me to be sent off, I'd never speak to them again."
Wazza? Fuck off.
Anyway, my prediction today is 3-1 liverpool.
