Viera got the better of him then, it's true. I don't remember Fab whining and bitching about it though.

only cos it would have been bad form for him to bitch about his arsenal team mate taking a dive to win a free kick from which they scored

Rooney is no saint, but sending a player off based on his previous record is retarded. If Giggs would had done that, I doubt he'd even get a yellow...

How do you know he was sent off based on his previous record? Maybe the ref saw it at a slightly different angle to the ones shown by TV?
Still, there can be no complaints about Scholes' red card, awful tackle.

I think it's pretty obvious the guy's trying to make a name for himself, think about it, "sent off against Portugese oposition yet again", if anything Rooney was impeded in that incident. It's pretty sad really.
But yeah Scholesy's was an awful tackle, dunno about a straight red though, but he did deserve a second yellow.

Man U's new kit suits Rooney cause it's ugly.? It was never a red card though, or a yellow for that matter.? Rooney's gonna struggle now that he has a reputation and that is really harsh cause all he's ever done is work hard and play good football (and stamp on that guy's balls.

all he's ever done? danny thats deluded.
the guy clearly has problems with aggression and this has been known about for years and years. as soon as he broke through at everton people were saying he needed to work on his anger.
Now people can go on about a difficult childhood, etc but the bottom line is he needs to grow up or he'll waste his chance of being a real legend rather than the next Paul Gascoigne.

I agree. Someone at Man Utd has to sit him down and sort him out. He has so much pure talent he could become one of the best players in the world for the next 10 years. But if he can't control his temper, he'll blow it.
It makes me laugh when I read about Sir Alex and how he feels that Gazza's career would have been so much better if he had joined Man Utd, and yet thus far he appears to have had absolutely no influence on the destructive aspects of Rooney's character.

I wouldn't know about that now, I think Rooney's matured a huge deal since joining Man United, his red card against Portugal and his red card last night were both down to poor refereeing, there was absolutely no malice involved in either. And after they were given to him he took them professionally and exited the pitch without causing any hassle.

He stamped on a guys nuts - now maybe where ur from thats friendly banter but here on planet earth thats assault, he'd be in the docks if football didn't somehow manage to exist above the law as it does
He needs to get his bad attitude in check - i'm sick of his swearing and dissent, he's bad news for the game, about time he grew up

he stamped on a man's genitals? how on earth can that be poor refereeing.
man, that is completely deluded and its attitudes like that which will stop rooney from dealing with his problems.
I saw gazza play over a dozen times up here in scotland - to be honest as great as he was (and on his day he was phenomenal) he was quite easy to subdue. Just stick a man marker on him and tell him to wind him up. If things didnt go his way then he'd lose the rag.
rooney will follow in his footsteps unless people face up to the fact that he has a problem with anger and his attitude. saying there isnt a prolem wont make it go away.

Judging by Frank Lampard's World Cup performance he was actually swapped with a cheerleader a week before the biggest show on earth started. I didnt believe it either till i saw the proof.
Seriously tho, would you? She's probably got a crackin body but she does look like a member of the boy band Blue/Chelsea midfielder Lampard.

Didn't you guys watch the replays? It was completely unintentional, the way Rooney was landing there was no way he could avoid landing where he did, and he didn't look at Carvalho once during the whole ordeal, and neither did he pull his foot back to indicate putting any force into his foot. Come on for fuck sake, I'm Irish and I'll admit he didn't mean it. It was a fucking stupid decision to send him off for it. Not that I wasn't glad he was sent off or anything, it helped England get knocked out of the World Cup!

you appear to be in a minority of one as apparently every single other person on earth saw it as a red card.
even the blind english media who blamed Sven for england not winning every game 11-0 said rooney was an idiot.

Of course they did, they did the same to Beckham after World Cup 98, anytime the English lose something they need to find someone to blame it on. In this case, Rooney and Ronaldo are their bitches.

No, sven was the scapegoat. The reason they said rooney was an idiot is because he was an idiot.
and the reason they picked on ronaldo is because he's an easy target. Beckham got it worse for his kick against the argy boy because at the time becks was disliked by everyone outside old trafford; whereas rooney isnt completely villified as hes the goldenboy.
everyone seems to agree he is guilty, mainly due to the fact that he did it and deserved his punishment.

how do you know he wouldnt have been 10 times worse if he hadnt joined UTD?? when you look at it, all rooneys bad incidents have happened playing for england (against spain, and portugal and even northern ireland) not utd, he clapped at a ref hardly violent conduct just frustration, and his red card against porto was a disgrace, he should not have been sent off

The football season kicked off yesterday for the Championship. We drew 1-1 with Wolves, not a bad start. I think Argyle will stay in this league without too much fuss, and it should be a lot more fun to watch than the bull-shit Tony Pulis served up. Good to see Stoke lose, not because I hate them, but because Pulis is a tosser! Oh what fun it would be if he got sacked this season!
