Did anybody else get the feeling that Arron Lennon was told to hold back??
I only say that because he wasn't attacking the play at all, I remember only once when he did and he was dispossesed. He's shown against Arsenal and the like that he isn't afraid of the big teams or the big stage, so I doubt that he simply bottled it...
Yeah, I was talking to a Spurs fan at the time and that was his excuse for Lennon's poor display.? It felt like he was just going through the motions because he know we'd already won comfortably, though I expected him to be working hard to prove he's worth his place in the team.

I think Eriksson not playing Walcott means Defoe is gonna go to Germany.
I'm still
SEETHING
that Darren Bent was not even picked for standby
He should drop someone - anyone - and bring in Sean Wright Phillips.

... Asside from pretty much every Tottenham fan...........
Did it actually go through? He hasn't signed yet has he, surely? I read this morning that you were weighing up a bid, and that they expected it to go through......
But 'expected' during the summer isn't always worth too much.
So, what... When Smith comes back, is that the end of him?

"Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is celebrating the dramatic capture of Michael Carrick after reaching agreement with Tottenham in a deal worth ?14 million."
http://www.4thegame.com/club/mufc/news/190505/united_swoop_for_carrick.html
Smith will prbably be a back-up striker for Rooney and Saha, if Van Nistelrooy is really leaving...but he's got a long way until total recovery...

... Just for the record, when I posted that, it was
before
the announcement that we had
rejected
a ten million pound bid.......
Ahh well, I heard seven yesterday, and now he's gone for double that. Worth every penny, though.
Of course I'm gutted, but as long as we hang on to King, Dawson, Robinson, Lennon... We'll be okay. Provided that we have another strong season, hopefully in europe, we can afford to play with our pay structure in a years time. I guess they just didn't want to obliterate our pay structure by putting Carrick 50k+......

The two chairmen agreed. Now Carrick has to sign, but that's a formality...
EDIT: WTF??? Now it seems Tottenham rejected a 10 million bid and they're waiting for ManYoo to increase the offer. I'm confused...

Maybe you shouldn't listen to the rumours.
What I thought the situation was earlier, and I don't think that it's changed, is that you offered ten million, which was in turn rejected. I THINK that we then said that you could have him for fourteen million......
So, whether you're willing to go that high is the question. But it's all very muddy, and nothing has been made clear. I've heard the figures 7, 10, 11 and 14 million pounds all mentioned.....

Martin Jol is working on BBC Radio this summer for the World Cup.
He was asked about this today. He said they had received one bid of ?10 million for Carrick, which was rejected. He then added that he wouldn't sell Carrick if he had a bid of ?20 million.
If Man Utd want a quality midfielder, Zokora is better and before tonight probably cheaper.

Lol - Fergie is senile - each year he wastes money on crap - Verson, Ferdinand (33 mill
) and now Carrick - i say keep it up - one less team Liverpool needs to worry about!

Zakora and Carrick are COMPLETELY different players.
Fergie wants a player that can break up play and fill that hole that Keano left behind. Zakora is a class-act but he is much more attacking and much more pacey than Carrick.

I heard that, if we were forced to sell (if Carrick wanted to leave), then we would probably try to get Ruud plus cash.
... If you're wondering why, in theory, that would mean that Ruud was worth less than Carrick, my guess would be that it has it do with a) Ruud wanting to leave and his dire relationship with the club at the moment, and b) the age difference, Carrick would definitely be a long term investment for a club like united, who have proven that they like to keep the big players at the club for the long haul.

roy keane retired
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/foot...ic/5071440.stm
Thats celtic's midfield fucked as they're also losing Petrov and Nakamura and have yet to renew Lennons contract; even tho at 34 is past it.
Keane should never have gone to celtic. it was a waste of his time and their money. In all the games i saw him in he wasn't even a shadow of his old self. He was woeful.

No, thats been Roy Keane for years, rarely has 'passed it' been so appropriate, only Paul Scholes can place a claim as being even more passed it

Romanian news are saying that Manchester United have made a 9 euro bid for Steaua's Mirel Radoi. He is a Steven Gerrard-type player, and would fit in perfectly in Keane's place
