I definately can't see Sven having the respect of his players after all this, it could seriously dent our World Cup campaign. If I were Owen i'd be absolutely furious - seeing as Sven repeated a private and personal conversation with him to a total stranger.
This transfer saga with Walcott is starting to piss me off now. Southampton know they're not gonna turn down ?12mil for him - no championship team would. They seem to just be stalling in the hope that he changes his mind about not wanting to go to Chelsea.
And while all this is happening Rosicky has wanted to sign for Arsenal for ages, but Wenger hasn't made a move. Why?! He's really skillful, attack-minded and, most importantly, he's a finished article. Why are we spending so much money on kids these days?

That Southhampton kid is about to sign for 12.5 million to Arsenal
Thats just....sad. A team that needs some heavy investment spends all their money on a kid that won't get a chance - and if he does it will be at Reyes expense, so 17 mill wasted on him...
Such a strange signing....

Aye, slightly, but...
As you said, you've never seen him play.
But it's Chelsea's fault. If they hadn't have been looking over Arsenals shoulder, then Arsenal wouldn't have needed to have gone over 10 million...Chelsea have a ripple affect on the Premiership, forcing other teams to pay more because a team isn't going to sell for 5 mil when they know that Chelsea have an interest.
One final thing. It's not 12.5 million as in a case of money...
My understanding of the deal is that it's 5 million up front, and then a further 7.5 based on appearances and the like. Don't quote me on that though, because maybe it's changed...But it will more than likely be along those lines anyway. I'm just not sure of the figure. 5 was my understanding though...
So, it's not really that
extreme
of a gamble. It's like either paying 12.5 for the finished article or, if he flops (which he isn't going to, trust me...), 5 million down the drain...
So, it's slightly less.
Oh, and cheers for not mentioning last Saturday...

Indeed, I'm not sure how much he's worth - but its what that money would buy Arsenal if they looked elsewhere - surely Trezeguet would be about that amount....
So many players have promised much at a young age - its an extraordinary gamble, for potential - and Mr Wenger did blow 17 mill on Reyes, who this kid is surely the replacement for - so Mr Wenger's transfer policy is open to some debate...

Valid point,
but
I'm still in the minority that thinks that Reyes will come good, eventually.

Reyes is very talented, and will come good eventually.
The Walcott signing is strange, like I said before if I was him I wouldn't have gone anywhere for now.
Surely they could have signed a fully developed player for that money.
Although if he reaches his full potential then it'll be a bargain

Aye.
Of course, remember that Wayne Rooney cost
30 million
after playing at Everton until Euro '04.
So, I'd say that if he reaches his potential, which he will, then it is one fucking huge bargain.
Oh, and Mr. Arsene admitted that it is a huge gamble.

Hilarious ain't it? - Arsenal can blow all their transfer money on 'potential' when the team urgently needs quality now - equal points with Wigan? So that was Viera's contribution....
Man Utd v Liverpool, hmmm - should be a good game, and the result is gonna be so crucial to the race for 2nd....

Im a total man utd fan. Just wanna see what every1 thought about 3 subjects:
Who should be next England Manager
I think it should be Guus Hiddink or Alan Curbishely
I'm not convinced by McClaren or Alladyce.
Is Theo Walcott Worth that much money?
I think so.
When i was young i had the priviledge of playing against Joe Cole, Jermaine Defoe and Micheal Carrick who at the time were playing for West Ham youth and they were a class apart . . from me at least. Now joe cole has got to be worth 15 million at least on his own. You can't put a price on qulaity youngsters and i'm gutted Man Utd didn't get him.
Gary Neville Taunting the Liverpool Fans
Even as a Utd fan i think he went to far. But i've heard people say if your getting abuse then surely its fair to give it back and i've heard people say that its such an emotional game sometimes you go outside of yourself and that i can relate to.
Just wondered what everyone thinks?

i dunno who would put up with the media acnd crap that goes on in england to be the next manager
its still early for walcott, they could have waited a year or two, but by then his value could have doubled, or maybe he mitent turn out to be the star they think hel be, its a big risk
and neville was just right, i dont hear anyone complaining about robbie fowler running to the utd fans and raising 5 fingers after he scored against them, that was just as bad but because this was a utd player its blown out of proportion

Yey, i've dreamed for years about Sven going - damn shame its not with immediete effect
He is without doubt the worst manager in top flight football - he doesn't even have enough tactical knowledge to put the players in positions.....
For his replacement - bah, who cares, the alternatives are nothing to write home about - Alan Curbishley? Puh-lease.
Definetly not a non-English manager, and i don't want an Irish manager either - not on some crazed racial grounds but because the mistake made with Sven must never be repeated
I would like a decent manager to arrive so i could start to care about England matches again....

Guus Hiddink is the best manager to be mentioned so far. Tactically I think he could be spot on but it'd be a big shame to have two non-English managers in a row.
Anyone but Fat Sam.

There are only two rules when getting an england manager.
1. He has to be able to handle big name stars (i dont think Fat Sam could, but i think curbishely could)
2. He can't be German (sorry Hitzfeld)
I agree with danny not fat sam but i wouldn't mind Hiddink with Stuart Pearce as His assistant. that team brings Brains, Tactical Knowledge and ENGLISH PASSION

Don't u mean three rules
3. The manager must actually know what football actually is, i.e where a striker plays, the importance of shots on target - Sven doesn't seem to have the first idea about the game itself

I just can't believe it - i'm stunned, this is the best signing we could get
I was just devestated when he was forced out, i used to watch Liverpool to see him play, when he left part of my interst in footbal went too - i always hoped, though i never expected, that he'd return - he may be 30, but who cares - i'll take Fowler missing open goals over Cisse any day!
Such good news
Now...we just need to make that bid for Owen, it has to happen in the summer surely, Owen wants out, Liverpool need a striker......c'mon, Owen and Fowler again!

Good news for Liverpool? And you thought Roy Keane was crap?!
In all honesty I hope he does well at Liverpool. It has to have been some tough years for him not performing. I just don't know if he has it in him. I think Benitez might mainly have been thinking about the influence and passion in the dressing room too.
