Generally, we won that game in pretty much the same way that you won the one earlier this season.  We won the battle in midfield, stopped you from playing, and got a couple of lucky breaks along the way.  I think overall we did deserve it though.

Jeffers and Pires are not divers.  Lauren is, but then i've always thought he was rubbish.  I can admit when my team is in the wrong (take note of that when thinking about the Bergkamp thing).

At first I thought Silvestre's tackle was a foul, but looking at it again for the forth or fifth time, I have to admit he got the ball first.  Still, i'd call that two chances for Arsenal, not one.

And for the first goal:  Hey, remember, you make your own luck! Wink

And nah, Chelsea will win the FA Cup and Man U will get the title.  Fiver for me!

Yeah, I don't think there was any serious diving on either teams part...

But when Scholes kicked the ball at Lauren, it was very reminiscent of Rivaldo at the world cup...

He looked at where the ball had been kicked, and then feel backwards...

Hate to say it, but Arsenal did deserve the win...

Yeah, I thought the very same thing.  It was almost comical, how long it took him to react.

Oh, and nice Alex icon! [ok]

although not quite as bad as Rivaldo....at least Laurne was allready on the floor

what Rivaldo did was sick...surely he knew there would be television cameras from all over the world on him.

and yeah, A Clockwork Orange fucking rocks  Wink

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

well, I wasn't expecting too much from a division one versus a division three team...

but I thought, seeing as it is the FA cup, it could be suprisingly good.

But the first half was...terrible. No other way to describe. Both teams tried playing long football, and it didn't work. The quality in the first twenty minutes was dreadful.

But I am glad that I stayed for the second half. Because not only did it prove that I have nothing better to do, but it also thoroughly entertained me  Cheesy

It actually turned into a very interesting tie. And, for about a twenty minute spell, I honestly didn't know who would win.

And, the icing on the cake that was the second half was that there was controversy  Cheesy  something every FA cup tie needs

The winning goal (although technically it wasn't, in my mind it was) was without doubt offside. The player directly was involved the the play, so it should've been ruled offside.

But, Rochdale did reasonably wel throughout, at least they tried.

To conceed a third goal against the run of play in the dying seconds was quite cruel...but it must've been great for the lucky bastard who was subbed on to waste some time and scored with his first (any only?) touch of the ball.

I've written too much on a match I should'nt really care about...I feel like a football analysist...

Well i know i said that but you must have all the children in africa making your luck coz your getting a shit load at the moment..... Late goals are not lucky but a shit free kick getting a deflection is.

I think you know that Arsenal are gonna win the double but are scared to admit it.

I thought that Man Utd were closer to Arsenal than that but that game just showed me how much better your squad is.

The funny thing is that i think Manchester United missed Veron.... in the game earlier in the season Veron made Vieria look average. Plus Scholes should play up front with RUUD as it gives our team a better shape

Hmm, not a great result on tuesday.  Now we've gotta go to Ajax and win (and I bet they won't have half their team out with the flu).

Also, ugh!  Fucking ITV commentators with their "this was a game Arsenal expected to cruise through" crap.  Where do they come up with that shit?

to Miz.

you need not worry about relegation afterall. Mr wilko has said you lot are already safe  Huh he says it will be from the bottom 4 and sunderland have already survived and the other 3 have been relegated. sunderland are saved, praise the lord, lord wilko that is.

he cracks me up, how on earth he thinks they are safe whilst being nailed to the bottom of the league is beyond me and probably also his staff and the fans. i bet the other 3 teams are pissing themselves with laughter at his incredible theory. if anything i would say sunderland are the least likely to survive out of the bottom 3, and i think they are already relegated, if i am allowed to use the same god like assumptions as mr wilko.

as for the other end of the table, i think arsenal have won this, man u get a lucky escape today, never saw thegame but sounds like they got lashed.

Arsenal are not close to winning it yet, but yesterday was very handy.  There's plenty of games left for us to drop points.

Wednesday's game is a definate must-win.  It'll be very tricky, especially is Ajax defend as well as they did at Highbury (though to be honest, I didn't really rate them going forward).  I predict another draw.

One example why I dislike Henry so much:

In the Ajax match, when he was holding the ball at the halfway line, enticing the player to barge him or whatever in order to get a free kick because he knew he could go nowhere with the ball.

I hate tactics like that enough allready, like when players look for penalty's and such when they are cornered in the box, I find it very annoying and pathetic.

But to top it off, when he sacasticly applauded the referee  Angry That just did it for me.

I actually really enjoyed the Arsenal match though. It was quite amazing how it seemed like 9 of eleven players on each side just kept charging backwards and forwards. One minute you were defending, the next you were attacking. There was hardlly any midfielf play.
It was a very watchable match.

The United match was okay, but nothing special. The return fixture should be good though.

Meh, if the player fouled in then it's his problem.  No different to holding the ball near the corner-flag when you're trying to get through injury time.  Don't start telling me Henry is a cheat as well!

Hmmm, not a cheat as such...

It can prove to be a good tactic.

If I remmember correctly, isn't that how we beat Argentina at the world cup?

It's just the fact that I don't like the tactic, and that it was an Arsenal player who used it  Wink

Ugh, we were terrible last night.  never looked like getting through that Ajax defence, and Pires had one of the worst games he's ever played for us (did more harm than good, getting in the way of everyone).

Didn't like the way Ajax played at all.  Diving everywhere, kicking our shins, and the bloody ref fell for it every time! Angry

Too bad nobody in Ajax seems to know how to score. Sad

Hmmm, 0-0

Boring, boring Arsenal  Tongue

I watched the Newcastle match, and it was okay. Nothing to get excited about though.

Watched the Arsenal highlights and was glad I didn't watch the match.

Neither team played great.

we didnt play fantastic but hell we got the 3 points. and we showed that we have got a squad of players not just 15, at long last. robert is starting to play football again which is a good thing having been frustrated with him for the first few months of the season.

ps arent spurs in europe?  Tongue

2-0...

2 fucking nil.

Seriously, how did that happen?

When will bloody Robbie Keane be back, and it didn't help not having either Iversen or good ol' Gus Poyet.

I havn't seen the match, and I could make excuses forever but it probably just comes down to the fact that we played shit.

And Les Ferdinand scored, of all bloody people.

I stated before that I didn't want to see them relegated...but not if it's gonna cost us victories  Angry

Ahh well, like I said last season "next season will be our season"...
