i think last nights "battle of britain" is a perfect example of whats going wrong with the top teams in the premiership. horrible, horrible football. just about the only good englsih premier games are the ones involving teams in the bottom half.

That game had 0-0 all over it - same result at the weekend too i bet

Anyone catch the closed door Rangers/Inter game? You really miss the noise of the fans in the game

I'll just point out that...

...At 2-1 (oh, we were 2-0 down by the way), Martin Jol was preparing to bring on a third striker (Robbie Keane) for Jermain Jenas, in search of an equaliser.

We got it just before he came on, with 20 odd minutes to go.

Regardless, Jol still decided to opt to play out the remainder of the game with three strikers.

It paid off, being that we won 2-3, with Robbie Keane scoring.

Oh, I'm almost certainly biased, being that they are my team. But I am quite confident that neither we, nor Charlton, are part of the problem threatening to ruin the Premiership. One of the best ties of the season, actually.

On another note, at least today highlighted the fact that regarding Liverpool as anything near title contenders is just ridiculous.

Aye, far too true unfortunatly.

Though, they were cited as one of the teams with any chance of giving Chelsea any sort of 'run for their money.'

But, no...

...You're right.

The only team capable of challenging Chelsea is Man United. Their squads are not too different in value, but Chelski have this inhuman consistency. If they start losing points and ManU stop dropping points then we might have a title fight. But the chances are extremly slim.

And, as much as I hate Mourinho, I must give him credit, the way his team is prepared and motivated for every single game is fantastic

No.....

No one can challenge Chelsea - they have money and good players and Liverpool, Arsenal and Man Utd lack both it seems - they are no match for Chelsea

United do not lack money, far from it, they just lack the desire to spend that money, all they need is to solidify the back four and find a decent replacement for Keano and they're fixed, we'd more than give Chelsea a run for their money.

the problem with chelsea is that its a business, not a club, and they have the richest, russianist, son of a bitch owner in the world.

they buy players just because utd, arsenal etc show an interest. i was only young when utd were the dominant english team, but im prettyy sure they didnt go to those lengths.

i hope to god chelsea dont get freddy adu.

No confused

Wrong way round

All the other teams are busineses - they have to make money for their shareholders and members and to service debts

Chelsea are a hobby, profits are irrelevant, they operate soley to win trophies

you'd think chelsea were the first team to spend alot of money to get to the top. The simple fact is that does not guarantee success. Organization and work ethic added to the skill are what keep chelsea on top.

Right now nobody looks like they'll be able to compete with chelsea over 38 games.

Currently whats keeping Chelsea top is the fact no other team can be bothered to try and score goals.....

buying assets (players) just because other clubs show an interest seems to suggest a business rather than a hobby.

Abramovivi didn't buy a business, he bought entertainment! The ridicoulous transfer fees for some players prove that!

I envy the man! He 's playing real life Championship Manager !  Grin

Exactly!! Sure, there's work ethic and organisation.. and they are not the first team to spend a lot of money.. but THAT amount of money which has been spent is way above anything we've seen before. I have always said the same thing.. he is just playing real life Championship Manager.

I don't see players as assets at all. A player can go from a multi million buy to nothing overnight. There are countless examples.

Such as

Harry Kewell
Peter Crouch
Djibril Cisse
Emile Heskey
Valdimir Smicer
Fernando Morientes

Wait....there is a common denominator here.....all played for Liverpool? Maybe.....all crap? Bingo!

3-1 to england. Austria are a poor, poor team and the english players will want to put on a soild performance..

Scotland will win 2-0 against belarus.
