PS id rather be a proud loser than an embaressed winner...

Good, 'cause i'd much rather be an embarassed winner.

Arsenal were pretty poor it's true.? I don't understand the logic of playing Bergkamp as a lone striker - especially for the second half when it had already not worked in the first half.? doesn't really matter now though, and the fact that Man U deserved it does kinda make the win that little bit sweeter.? I loved the fact that Ronaldo cried at the end as well, that was great. Grin

Quote
It does seem strange they don't tell Bergkamp to grew up - a 36 (?) year old man acting like a child, its pathetic really

Not really, a phobia is a phobia and age has nothing to do with it.? I think the club have shown him the respect that he deserves after 10 years of great service.

Quote
Time for a new approach i think, but if your priority is the league i suppose you'd disagree

Actually, I do agree with you on this one.? Wenger has definately been Arsenal's best manager ever, there's no doubt about that - the trouble is, he has weaknesses that are being emphasised more and more all the time.

Right now Arsenal have no balance at all in midfield.? Gilberto is brilliant at the holding role, but then Viera isn't sure what he's supposed to do because that used to be his job.? Pires and Ljungburg are too slow to make dangerous runs and, on the other end of the spectrum, Reyes is much too weak.? Robben, Duff, Ronaldo, Giggs, Overmars - these are all players that have shown how important the combination of power and pace is to a winger and Arsenal don't have that at the moment, so they have to go down the middle all the time and that makes them predictable.? We can still break down weaker teams cause they're shit at defending, but when we play the bigger teams they stop us easily (hence our problem scoring in the Champions League and against Man U).

Also, i'm really sick of this "we must be mentally strong" nonsense.? All you need to do is get your players enjoying their football and they're already as mentally strong as they need to be.? All this emphasis on mind games just confuses players.

So yeah, a rethink would really help us at this point.? I'd love to see Wenger move to the top of the board, and have a big say in who his successor is but, as he's said himself, I think he'll have taken the club as far as he can when we open the new stadium.

Well, not really, because he's never flown anywhere for Arsenal?

Maybe I'm taking what you said out of context...I don't know what context you meant it in, to be honest.

So...Champions League final...

Liverpool...

...Milan...

...Man. I just hope it's not the shite final that it could be.

You have to wonder, what Arsenals record in Europe would be like if they hadn't have played the nice guys and said 'fuck you Dennis, you're playing Wednesday night in Italy, I don't give a shit if "you aint' gettin' on no plane, fool"'

Is it in his contract that he doesn't have to play in away champions league games if he has to fly, does anybody know?

I mean, okay, he is just one player but...In the knockout stages of the Champions League, where luck and one goal can be everything...you have to wonder.

Well if Arsenal would reach a Champions League semi-final or final, he would surely take a car or a train to the away match.   Oh, wait a minute, that won't happen, even if he keeps playing for them until he's 50 !!   Grin Grin

How a game with such an awful, awful first half could produce an ending like that...

...Outstanding.

Well, congratulations.

As I said before, Milan are too old...And it began to show.

Not to take anything away from Liverpool, however. Not just the fact that they were 3 behind, but all their heads were down by the end of the first half. Where those three goals came from...

I wanted Milan to win throughout the game, until it came to penalties...I don't know why, I just had a change of heart. Was actually pretty made up to see Liverpool win.

But, a dampner has to be put on it somewhat because...Tongue

...Did you see how far Dudek was off his line for his first save?! He pretty much jumped out of the six yard box.

Ahh well.

Oh my

To come back from 3-0 is always remarkable but to take the champions league home too...

Wow, it will kick in tommo, that game wore me out

Special shout out to Smicer - he's had a rough time at Liverpool but his final game - a goal, a penalty - could we ask more? All his weaker performances whether his fault or not, are forgiven

A thank you to Mr Benitez for making me believe again

It was one of the greatest finals from the last years, I thought that with the 3-0 Milan was going to play with a 7-2-1 formation  hihi  Liverpool played a great game, with an outstanding game for Gerarrd and Smicer. Cheers for the champions  beer

Oh crap, and I thought there was one team in Europe with a bigger moron in goal than my Manchester United and its two clowns.

But Dudek made up for all his blunders, not only with the two penalty saves, but also with that magnificent double save that denied Shevchenko the winner.

Steven Garrard is a God, and I hope he'll be the next Roy Keane at Man U starting 2006 (hehe)
