Heh.

Yeah, the quality of the game was pretty terrible, but that's no reason to forget that these kids beat the same Everton side that has got to third in the table this season, and Man City.? I think playing Phil Neville at the back was really cowardly of Alex Ferguson - his experience made a huge difference to them.

Fair enough - many they have some talent they were hidding (or maybe Everton and Man City are even worse Tongue)

---------

Looks like Liverpool are in talks with buyers again - this whole thing has been going on for long enough, i think it was settled once and for all. The offer from Steve Morgan seem's to be the one to take- it would secure the stadium , prove the team with some funds - and he's a fan with only the club's intrests at heart.

Just got back from seeing Wolves against Reading (i'm a Liverpool fan who has seen Wolves more times than he's seen Liverpool, but then Molineux is closer.....)

Fantastic result for Wolves, 4-1, both teams where horrible but when you win by 4 can u complain, any Reading fans should be contemplating switching allegiance, your team is horrendous.

The crowd spent most of the game booing the team and manager and streamed for the exists at the end....i suppose its been so long since they did well, they are confused by victories hihi

I'm in Reading today, but I guess all the fans were up watching the match. I was going to wear my Swindon shirt, but I couldn't find it. It's not exactly a huge rivalry between the two teams anyway, so hey ho.

Spent the day with a Wolves fan, come to think of it.

This guy never ceases to amaze me..

www.soccernet.com

French striker Nicolas Anelka wants to leave Manchester City for a 'big club'.
Anelka is in talks with City manager Kevin Keegan about a contract extension beyond 2007, but admits he is doing his best to secure a move.

The 25-year-old claims he should be playing in the Champions League and fears he will become 'fed up' at the City of Manchester Stadium.

'I either decide to win titles or to have an easy life. I think I will always choose football if a great club makes me an offer,' Anelka told a French football magazine according to the News of the World.

'I think City will understand. I gave a lot to this club. My objective is to give my maximum for City in order to find a big club.

'To win titles you need players who have the capability of doing so. If we stagnate between eighth and 15th place, it's impossible to progress. If I am going to score goals and not win, there is a risk it is going to create a feeling of being fed up.

'I am in talks to sign an extension to my contract. I am well here but the sporting aspect also comes into account.

'Playing for eighth place is good but I miss the Champions League. I won it with Real Madrid in 2000 and I need to be playing in it - and I should be playing in it.'

Anelka would love to achieve his goals with City, but believes that is unlikely.

'The ideal would be that City become a great club, but if that happens I will be 35 years old,' he said.

Typical Anelka - works his way into a position where he is respected, then gets a big head and forgets about the team that put him there.  I bet he would have enjoyed winning the Champions League even more if he had actually been involved in it.

Chelski terrify me.  4-0 against Newcastle! Shocked

'The ideal would be that City become a great club, but if that happens I will be 35 years old,' he said.

This is why Man City are in ?20m debt.  They pay the wages of people like Anelka and I couldn't give less of a fuck if he fucked them over.  I got pissed off when he messed Arsenal around but Man City knew his history when they signed him.  There needs to be a control on clubs like this operating above their means.  Like Leeds they deserve everything they get if this ends in ruin.  At the end of the day it's us fans who get screwed, because we get emotional about our clubs unlike most players and the 'suits' who are supposedly runnign the game.

The game needs a reality check, there NEEDS to be a wage cap on players or football's going to go down the pan.  Money's ruining the game from top to bottom (i.e. there's too much involved at the top and too little at the bottom).  Look at Wrexham.  A town could lose its club cause some greedy (unt has been allowed to take it over who's in it for what he can get.  The game's in a hell of a mess.

I'm just thankful my club, Argyle, is run by a board who put the club first and don't spend money it doesn't have.  If more clubs did this it would create a lot more 'fairness' and there wouldn't be as many problems with the game.  It pisses me off when one minute Leeds are ?40m in debt and Argyle are just about in the black.  The next thing you know Leeds sign two players for ?1m and Argyle hold back in order to avoid making 'mistake' signings.  That's gaining an unfair advantage in anyone's book.  No offence to Leeds fans, but I'd love them to get 10 points deducted for going into admin.

You sound like my grandad. He stopped watching football ages ago (maybe before I was alive? Probably not) because he didn't agree with the money going into it. Only professional, mind.

Money may well be an issue, but you only get the odd foreigner who acts like that. From my experience, the majority of players in the Premiership are passionate about their club.

Point number one: Arsenal. After watching the last three Arsenal matches, I have come to the conclusion, they are moaning bastards. Their last european game, inside the first twenty minutes, Viera had been knocked off his feet 6 times, buy a guy 6 foot smaller than him. I ain't joking, but the ref, has to use some common sense.
In each of the matches, Ljundberg, has taken a dive in each one. I'm a huge fan of his too.

Now, although they play pretty football, they do toss the dummy out, and cannot take defeat, mainly because they are so far up their own arse.

I don't like them at all. Bring on the Chelsea next weekend.

I only saw some brief highlights which didn't really give any clue as to how the game went overall, though i did hear we were unlucky, oh well, these things happen when u have all ur attacking players injured.

Oooookaaay!  Well your grandad has taken his stance a little too far.  If I was disturbed by it that much I'd do what he could've done and supported a local amateur or semi-pro team.  I just think it's quite sad that the sporting bodies of football have become the bitches of corporations and some fans have become bitches as a result.  When I say some, I mean armchair supporters who pay to watch football, but pay BSKYB rather than the team they 'support'.  I count myself lucky I don't fall into that category.  I used to but I soon learnt the meaning of what it means to 'be there' and get the real experience of following a team.  When I was an armchair fan my team was Arsenal!

Anyway, I'm ranting, i'd better stop or I will sound like a grandad!!  Here's to 3 points at Crewe on Saturday.  beer

OH MY GOD!

We did it! We some how did it, if that is not one of the most amazing nights in champions league history i don't know what is!

Just when u thought we were set to go out - they scored, only for the team to find 3 goals, unreal. I doubt Anfield has seen such a comeback, or a more important comeback in many a season

Its the stuff that makes football special. So pleased with the team, actually being able to get 3 goals like that, marvellous!

HURRAY FOR LIVERPOOL!!!!!!!!!  I'm a hardcore Manchester United fan,but when it comes to European Football, I'm a huge supporter of all English clubs.

I hope no fellow ManUtd fan reads this, but I literraly jumped out of my seat when Gerrard hit that superb shot. Beautiful, just beautiful!
