Up until last season Sunderland consistently had about the 5th highest attendance in the
country
.? So considering more fans were coming to watch our games than the majority of the teams in the Premier, including Leeds, I'd say Sunderland were bigger than leeds.
Oh, and we beat you in the FA cup final (...in 1973
)
And Forest *cough*wankers*cough* probably have the most impressive league & european record in div 1, and probably better than most teams in the premier.? So there's another team bigger than Leeds.? Plus, now that David Johnson no longer has a broken leg, they're probably gonna start beating everyone, especially if they hang on to Andy Reid (although that does look doubtful...).
Sunderland have a 45,000 stadium, and get about 20,000 a game, that's not very good really is it, Leeds have the biggest fanbase outside the premiership, and bigger than alot in the Premiership. Up until last season, ie, while you were in the Premiership you had glory supporters watching you but where are they now, watchin Newcastle?!? Forest used to be a big club, bigger than Leeds are now maybe, although not as big as they were at the time (although that's debatable), but they have slipped and are no where near as big as they were. Wow, you beat us in the cup final 30 years ago! How many other cups have you won?
Oh and Izzy, Cardiff might be getting a 60,000 seater stadium but they won't fill it unless they're in the Premiership, and then it will be with glory supporters! Sunderland are big but not as big for me, not quite, it's close but I think Leeds edge it!

Oh but they will - if u live in South Wales that's the only team u have to support - huge fan base their
Plus - they wouldn't be doing it if they didn't know they could fill it

Give them a chance dude. Not many knew who Pires was before he joined Arsenal.

Don't worry i will - but when ur buying 26 yr old Spanish players that most have never heard of u begin to.....worry.
After years of Houllier's bad buys can u blame me for being nervous over such signings?

Um...we weren't in the premiership last season.? And before we went up about three years ago, we were in the top 5.? Now we don't get that many, but that's because people got pissed off with the shit football that gets played.

Well obviously they're not as big as they were.? They aren't winning the European cup and the Premier league.? But when we're Leeds ever as good as Brian Cloughs Forest team? Never.

He?s a well known striker in Spain, he has played with Atletico de Madrid and lately in Barcelona, I think he?s gonna fit in

I have heard of him too.
Not sure whether you guys in the UK get the same moron commentators as we do here in Australia.. they are british anyway.. but did anyone else just want to mute the TV when the co-commentator spoke in the Villa V West Brom game?
And Gareth Barry.. looked like he took the field 5 mins after eating a Sunday roast! SO SLOW! Not sure whether left wing is his position, I think he is more suited to a central defensive midfield role, where we already have the useless Hitzlesperger and McCann. No creativity whatsoever. Thought West Brom put in a very gutsy good show and deserved a win.

Did anyone else see the whole of the Arsenal/Middlesborough game? Methinks we may have just seen one of the games of the season already!
Also, Patrick Berger's volley is surely gonna be up there in the race for goal of the season. What a great first two weeks!

I truly despise Arsenal....
They looked un-fuckin'-real, i don't see how they will ever lose. Henry is without doubt the best player in the world at the mo, he's just incredible.
The goals were fantastic, from Boro too.

I'm a Man United fan,and I hope the magnificent Alan Smith can get them back on track and win the Premiership again. Two weeks ago I got the chance to see the devils for the first time, when they came to my home town,Bucharest,to play against Dinamo(by the way,I fuckin hate Dinamo and I was cheering for United alone, with 60.000 Dinamo fans around me).I never thought Fotball can be played like that.TV doesn't do good teams justice, you have to see them for yourself to actually feel the magic.
Any other ManU fans???

All man Utd fans are to be found outside of Mancester
Alan Smith is a total joke - a third rate player - at best, 37 goals in 178 games for Leeds. There are midfielders that do better than that!

Poor scoring record for Leeds. But he scored a screamer against Arsenal, and another against Norwich. I doubt he'll play much when Ruud and Saha come back.

I dunno, it's debatable I think, That 60's, 70's team Leeds had was pretty fucking good and I think that Forest team wouldn't have won what it did in that time period, and that Leeds team would have won more than it did if they played in the same time as the Forest side!

Dude, football is not an american sport, statistics don't mean shit. He was the heart and soul of Leeds,he played right mifield, even defensive midfielder sometimes. Now he has a good team behind him and he's proving he can score. He just put two past the dinamo bastards a few minutes ago!

Hello!
Thats not a statistic - thats a records of the number of goals he scored - he's a striker and scores few goals = he's crap.
He got two past some Hungarian team? Wow - what a challenge! He earns more per game then there team does per month, and if with the service he's getting he can't score past them, well...he'll never score.

1. It wasn't an hungarian team,it was a romanian team,but I see your point
2. I can't remember the last time Smith was used as a striker at Leeds.
3. You're a Liverpool fan,what do you know???

You do make a good point there
Bottom line is.. with the service on offer at Man Utd which perhaps wasn't always on offer at Leeds, this season we will soon find out whether he can score goals or not.

Oh come on!! Smith wasn't as high up front as Viduka.Sure,he came in front often, but he also covered the right side and sometimes he was the playmaker too.Just read the interview he gave just before the season, when he said he was glad that Alex Ferguson sees him as a striker only
