Ah Spurs.....

Every year a new manager, every year millions spent and yet they just....get....worse, i don't know how they do it.

I notice Postiga is about to be loaned out - speninf 8 million on an unkown player - way to go ok

I suppose on the bright side Spurs can't get any worse - and they can't get relegated either - Norwich, West Brom and Palace have already reserved those places!

Well good luck to them....there gonna need it

We are unsettled on the manager front, fairly stated...

Spending millions though? I wish. We shop in Division 1 a lot of the time. Simon Davies, Defoe, Zamora (Division 2)...I could go on. We place a lot of emphasise on youth and finding talent where bigger clubs don't shop at the moment. That is why we bought in Frank Arnesen. We don't have the money of Chelsea to buy accomplished players.

We speninf 8 million on Postiga because he had, and still does have, great potential. But his confidence is shot. Can you blame the guy?

Loaning him would be a great move, I don't see why you mock it, it's not like we're counting our losses and selling him. In my opinion it would be a good move to loan him to a side where he can gain experience.

But that isn't important. You obviously havn't been to the Spurs website today (how come?) because the latest word from the club is that Postiga isn't going to be loaned out to Benefica as was reported. You really should keep up to date.  Smiley

And besides, we have an incredible (for what our aims are) attack anyway. Defoe, Keane and Kanoute if he's interested could breach any defence on the right day.

I'm looking forward to next season because hopefully it will be one of progression for us. Liverpool? You just can't compete with those above you, and next season will be even worse. All that you can look forward to for the approaching season is the same position as this year or lower. There is no chance of you finishing in the top three.

Although, I suppose that you could have a good run in the Champions League...

Bah - Liverpool will be 3rd next season

And i wasn't having a go at Spurs - but u have to admit the plight there in is slightly bemusing, each season begins with such confidence and within weeks your down in 18th place....

I wish them the best - they have had many problems to deal with, especially injuries which don't seem to leave the club alone

8 million is a lot to spend because a player could have potential!

Maybe we can swap.. Postiga for Peter Crouch?  hihi

True, but 'could' 'on the right day' isnt enough for Spurs to progress from last seasons position!

I think that Santini will be good for Spurs, I cant see a UEFA Cup spot next season but I have a feeling Spurs will really progress over the next few years with Santini. Although I hope they dont!

As for Liverpool in the top 3, although I think Man U could miss out on the top 2 again next yr (i hope so!), I dont know if Liverpool have enough to break through into the top 3. And I cant see Newcastle or Villa who were also up there, doing it this coming season either.

We will, don't worry -  we had an awful season but with a good manager and a few buys we will easily be the equal of Chelski - they have spent alot but they ain't a good team.

I think next year will be tough for Man Utd - the history of football is littered with examples of footballing giants slowly fading away - look at Forest and Liverpool. The decline has certainly set in at Man Utd, their still a great team but there getting worse every year - they really need to reinforce the squad.

How? They finished 3rd three seasons ago, everyone wrote them off, and bounced back and won the premiership. They lost it at the latter part of this season (usually when they're at their strongest) and should've finished higher than Chelsea, but you can't argue, that Arsenal are awesome.

And I'll stick my ass on the line and say Forest are going to get promotion next season (Probably not if they sign Ndah though).

Yes but their not the awesome force they once where - they no longer dominate as they once did, and while thats as much to do with the increase in competition they face, i think its fair to say they have declined too.

They have bought very badly - Veron, Bellion, Kleberson - Ferdinand at 33 million?

They are still a major force - and most likely that won't change soon, but their not getting any better and many of their key players have their best days behind them...

------------

far more importantly Benitez says he is talking to a series of clubs - maybe he's not set for Liverpool or maybe he's after more money.....

Spanish members of HTGTH: is he any good as a manager? - i have barely watched any spanish football in months and i try not to place to much faith in the views of the pundits

Well, well, well. It seems that good ole David Healy is now N. Irelands highest ever goalscorer with 14. We beat Trinidad 3-0 away last night. Not a bad result for us, and Healy scored a 40 yard free kick.

Bring on the World Cup Qualifiers.

That's 5 or 6 unbeaten now, the goals have been flying in.

The Skysports site has the match, but no review. I looked up the N. Irish website.

Division One is to be known as The Championship as the Football League looks to raise the profile of the three tiers below the Premiership.
Divisions Two and Three will be re-named League One and League Two.

With the top flight dominating media and public attention, the League hopes the changes will boost awareness.

"The Championship is a term steeped in the history of the League. It will place a new emphasis on its status," chairman Sir Brian Mawhinney said.

The standard of football in the lower divisions has been heavily criticised in recent years.

Teams promoted from Division One have struggled to survive in the Premiership - Wolves and Leicester suffered instant relegation last season.

But Mawhinney is a firm fan of 'The Championship' and wants to build on the fact that the League enjoyed its best attendances in 40 years last term.

"Not only is it a gateway to the Premiership, it is one of Europe's leading league competitions, in terms of the standard of football, the stadia and the numbers of supporters attending," he insisted.

"We want our games to become ever more attractive, not only to our core audience, but also to a new generation of youngsters on the brink of discovering the game.

"We also want a commercial audience to be encouraged to re-evaluate its perception of the League."

Ipswich chairman David Sheepshanks also backed the rebranding of the lower leagues.

"No-one is short-sighted enough to believe that we will close the gap on the Premiership but the long-term aim is to build revenue.

"It's not a sell-out, not at all. You've got to start somewhere. We've got a top sponsor, as well as the Carling Cup and the LDV competition.

"It's a whole new world, we've got to get out there and try and make some money for the clubs."

What the hell??

I'm just confused - the Premiership, the championship?

My brothers team, Luton are now in Division one?!?

This is a stupid idea.....we have 4 divisions and the lowest is called division 2 confused

Apparently Steven Gerrard is 'considering his future' - i.e planning his move to Chelsea

To be honest if him and Owen can't get their shit together they can both fuck off - either they want to play for the club or they don't, they can't hold the club to ransom - and if we got 30 million for Gerrard we could just go get someone better anyway.
