Sad to see - he always scored against Man Utd - by Liverpool needed a shake-up and i'm glad that seems to be happening - Liverpool were stale.
It's good to see that although teams like Liverpool and Arsenal couldn't give a fuck about british players and always buy foreign, that some of the smaller clubs are starting to spend on british players. For a while there it seemed the future was totally left to what Man UtD would bring through the ranks.
Who was the last english player Arsenal bought? Jeffers?

Yeah - and he was a flop
Clubs should bring through more Brit players but i think Liverpool do - Owen, Gerrard, Carragher, Murphy, Fowler were all through the youth accademy
Edit - tragedy?
Owen's gone
Check the team sheet for tonights game
He ain't playin which means he is eligible to play for Real Madrid in the Champions league. That deal must be underway.
Lol - on a GNR board this is the most intresting thread and the only one full of intelligent people

I thought Murphy came from Crewe? Only 3 of those still play for Liverpool, and two of them probably won't be there in a year.

Woah. That's a bugger. Not that he's any good anyway.
I still rate Fowler, he's one of my favourite players.

I suppose so
Plus of course your right about Murphy he was from Crewe.
It will be sad to see Owen go - but we've known this for 6 months, its hardly a shock - i am glad the club isn't being taken hostage, hopefully we can get lots for him and get someone that's not passed it......
Replacements though....we need another striker, we have only 2 on our books now with Heskey dead, Owen gone, Smicer injured and Le Tellec unproven
I think Morientes or Eto'o would be a good move - plus Real want to get rid of them

Owen has just signed for Real Madrid
When Fowler left i was just devestated for weeks - with Owen, well i've known this was going to happen
Owen hasn't got a chance of getting in Real Madrid's team - Ronaldo, Moreintes, Raul - good luck Mikey
I am very upset he just ditched as after claiming loyalty to us all this time
I hope the little sod breaks his leg in his first match - after all we have done for him
We're getting 8 million - which is joke for a player of Owen's ability but we are get some promising Spanish player....hmm
Quite a few players are on the way out - Diouf should be leaving too
We now have just 3 strikers......

Tottenham are good at bringing youth players through the ranks, as well as employing englishmen. King, Gardener, Rickets, Slabber, Yeates (who has been capped by the under 21?s). And I?m sure that after the world cup you will admit that King is one for the future. Anybody asside from Chelsea fans that wouldn?t play him before Terry for England?
I?m really looking forward to the Liverpool match tommorow. I can?t wait to see the new side. We?ve made some good signings. Pity that Keane and Davies are out, but they won?t be missed as much as they could be. I?m hopeful of a result against the scousers.
On a side note, has anybody entered any of the various dream teams? Secondly, has this been mentioned before...I?m not fucked to check. Thirdly, is there another threadn for it...No, checked, there isn?t.
I?ve entered the Sun?s (great tabloid...), and my team is the following.
Van der sar
Bridge
Taylor
Knight
Gerrard
Redknap
Holland
Reyes
Smith
Defoe
totalling a cool 40 million.
If this has already come under discussion tell me to fuck off, and I won?t. If it hasn?t and you?ve entered, who is in your team?

Wasn't it Sol Campbell? And what about Ashley Cole? The only decent left footed player in the last decade.
Although, I agree, without Man U, the England team would be shit. I think it's great for the national squad that Smith has gone to Man U.
It also looks like Beattie is leaving Southampton which is another good thing.
And congratulations to Liverpool for finally getting rid of Owen. You got ?8m for him, which is more than I'd rate him at, and you got a player as well. The real Madrid manager must be retarded.
And it seems Viera is staying after all. I'm quite glad actually, because I think it would've fucked up the team spirit over at the Arse, for him to go. And it means Wenger has something to complain about when Veira gets sent off every other game...
UI, why isn't Forsell in your fantasy team? And what the hell is Redknapp there for?
And also, why have you only got 10 players?

Horrah for Viera staying. Although, I can't help but find it a little patronising that, after he's messed the club around so much this summer, Viera rants on about loyalty and the like. Hadn't talks broken down because he wanted to be paid like a galactico?
Whatever, he's staying and I am damn happy about it. Michael Owen has made a teriffic decision to play for Real - Hopefully he'll find a bit of proper form around real world class players. No idea how he'll get into the team though.

what do you people think of Mikael Forssel - birmingham, Joonas Kolkka and Aki Riihilahti - Crystal Palace, Jonatan Johansson - Charlton, Antti Niemi - Southampton, Sami Hyypi? - Liverpool, Antti J??skel?inen - Bolton.........do you find them as top players or just mediocre? Give some arguments...

Long time no talk prick face, mainly due to my lack of internet. I?m in a cyber cafe in Portugal at the moment, the last few days are the first times I?ve been on the net in donkeys.
Firstly, I don?t rate him as highly as Smith (played very well today considering he was a lone striker), Reyes (scored today) or Defoe (scored yesterday). And also, my dad has him.
Secondly, Redknapp is international class when fit (Yes, I still believe that), and he?s our captain.
Thirdly, I missed out Hreidarsson (Yeah, I know...)
Fourthly, fuck off, you?re still in division one. Or, the coca cola league sponsorship championship what a mouthful to pronounce.
Lastly, nice to see the proper use of the word "your" for once.
Nice to get a draw with Liverpool yesterday considering our injuries and that our team hasn?t been together very long at all.
United Chelsea was a good game, Arsenal Everton wasn?t, I left after the first half.
Oh, and lastly you?re a prick. Did I mention that before?

Man U were unlucky. They're really getting bad luck with injuries. Ronaldo, Saha and Nistlerooy. That sucks. Apparently they're gonna bid ?12m for Defoe, which would be awesome for England if they got him. Sven might finally get rid of Emile "theshittestplayerinthehistoryoftheworld" Heskey.

Yeah, they were. It should have finished 1-1 at least. Unfortunatly, Defoe
and
Heskey are in the side to face the Ukraine. Oh well, there?s no way he?ll be in the squad for the next world cup, let alone get a game. Defoe, Rooney and...Owen are our future. Ledley is featured as well, as is Robinson. Nice to see Kirkland in the squad. Pity he?s at Livepool though.
And United can try. As our charman said the other day, we are in a "strong financial position" and have absoloutly no need whatsoever to sell any of our top class players.
We?re not like Everton are at the moment, or Leeds when they went down. Or Sunderland...Oh wait, you didn?t have any top class players to sell when you got relegated. We don?t need the money at the moment, we need the players.
lol at Championshit, you said it pal.

Are you kidding? There was some great football in the Arsenal game (by, oddly enough, Arsenal), whereas i'm honestly not sure i've ever seen two of the top three teams in the league play so badly in one game. Neither side deserved the win because they were both awful. Man U have absolutely no creativity going forward and just throw loads of (poor) crosses into the box, while Chelsea reverted back to that famous old Greek tactic. Yuck!

Firstly, you?re totaly right, Arsenal were a joy to watch on the football scale.
I should have mentioned that I didn?+t leave because it was bad, but because we were having a barbeque. Appologies.
It?s just Evertone were awful, and it lowers the tone of the game.
But aren?t you proud thatn a spurs fan has Reyes in his dream team? he is so classy.
Lastly, I?m really drunk. fuck cheacking my speling.
Proper lastly, of course United were awful, Smith was a lone stirker for basically the whole game!! don?t count diego, he was a joke.
Get Ruud and Saha back and they will be genuine title challengers. Mark my words.

Yeah, i've not written off Utd yet (I know better than that), but they really were a joke on sunday.
And Forlan was hilarious!

Oh yeah, proud as proud can be. He's looking very, very promising at the moment. I wonder what odds I could get for him scoring more than Henry...
Will do my dream team another time, but it'll probably have Defoe in it.

Leeds have had a mixed start to life in the Championship!! What a name that is!
We need to strengthen midfield and we'll be ok, Sullivan is a class act and Carson is a good under study, defence looks solid without Duberry in it, and when the strikers are match fit they will be a handful for anyone!
We are without a doubt the biggest club in the Championship and will always be targeted by smaller clubs so will find it tough!
And please no-one reply trying to tell me anyone is bigger than Leeds outside the Premiership, 'cos they're not!
Any more Leeds fans on this board?!? What do you think to Kevin and what he's done so far?
As for the Premiership, I can only see Arsenal winning it, Chelsea second, Scum 3rd and Liverpool 4th! Although they will be closer to the top 3 with a good manager and some good players now, not shitty ones bought just because they are French!

Cardiff are about to move into a new 60,000 capacity stadium
Hull have an immense fan base
Sunderland are a significant ''championship'' team too
Leed's may be one of the biggest teams in that daft championship thing but don't get too carried away........

Up until last season Sunderland consistently had about the 5th highest attendance in the
country
. So considering more fans were coming to watch our games than the majority of the teams in the Premier, including Leeds, I'd say Sunderland were bigger than leeds.
Oh, and we beat you in the FA cup final (...in 1973
)
And Forest *cough*wankers*cough* probably have the most impressive league & european record in div 1, and probably better than most teams in the premier. So there's another team bigger than Leeds. Plus, now that David Johnson no longer has a broken leg, they're probably gonna start beating everyone, especially if they hang on to Andy Reid (although that does look doubtful...).

How come no-one in this country supports their local team? I've been in Nottingham 10 months and met one Forest fan, and he's from Norwich.
Anyway, N. Ireland drew 0-0 with Switzerland tonight. Good result for us, we seem to have a very good unbeaten run going here (6 games I think).
And of course Healy is still doing well for Preston, 3 goals this season. Mark my words fellas, this guy is premiership class.

I was born in Sunderland, and my mum is from there, hence why I don't support Forest. Quite a few people I know support either Forest or County, but then again, I probably know as many people who support Man U, Liverpool or Arsenal. I think a lot of people just decided to stop supporting county when they got really shit, because a lot of people are idiots.
