I'm so going to be looking forward to next season. Now that Houllier's gone, is there any chance that Owen might leave as well.  beer

IMO, no not this summer, but if Liverpool don't make top 3 this coming season, I think he'll be off.. probably to a great upcoming club like the Villa  Grin

Well by next season he will either have signed a contract or be sold so our eventual position is irrelvant

He's got a hand in the appointment of a new manager to keep him sweet - but to be honest i think he should be shown the door - no one is bigger than the club and he's holding them to ransom

He clearly doesn't care about the team and just wants to get every last penny he can out of the club - i think we should just sell him and buy several new strikers - Owen's not that good any more.

Missioned it up (or across) to the Millenium Stadium today, only been back a short while. Great to see Brighton back in Division 1. Or should, I say, the Coca-Cola Championsip.....

Ahem.

But yeah, great atmosphere, 65 000 or so turn out. We were sat just behind the Bristol goal at the Brighton end for the penalty, Leon Knight conversion.  ok

But now my Nationwide teams, Ipswich and Brighton are in the same league, tough times ahead. Gives exciting ends to the spectrum for next season though, one team looking for promotion, one possibly battling relegation.

Ipswich to go up next year, Brighton the preceding one?

Hardcore.

Not that good anymore or stale with the players around him?

I'd say a bit of both actually.

What strikers would you buy for Liverpool?

Everything Louder Than Everything Else

I think Roman Abramavich has too much money.

I think Mourhino must be incredibly happy.  ?80,000 a week.  A little excessive in my opinion, but then so are most of the wages in the premiership, serie a...etc...

I do believe that managers should get as much, if not more than the players, because they are the people that make the magic happen.  You could have the best players in the world (Real Madrid) and still not be the best team in the world.  Look at how Bobby Robson turned Alan Shearers career around.  He should be getting more money than Shearer, but he isn't.  Alex Ferguson should be getting more money than Roy Keane...but I'm pretty sure he's not.  But I still think ?80,000 a week is a bit excessive...
I seriously think there should be wage caps.  To stop the russian mafia buying a squad of three hundred of the best players in the world and thus taking all loyalty and competition out of the game.

Hey UI...how come you support about 17 teams?

I wouldn't worry about Abramovich - he has proven money is only any good in football when applied properly - the man barely knows what team he owns - he's only a threat to himself

He's wasted over 100 million - eventually he will just get bored and go back to rigging elections and smuggling diamonds in Russia.....

Benitez has just quit Valencia.....surely its not a coincidence that Liverpool have been heavily linked with him (he's always been the bookies fav) and now he quits?

Either football's become too much for him or he wants to manage a real team

I hear good things about him maybe he's the man for the job - and please no more awful defensive play!

England 1 - Japan 1

Ive only seen highlights but why on earth would Sven play Lampard in the withdrawn midfield holding role? Last time I checked Lampard was not a hard defensive player. Surely he would play Gerrard or Butt in this role and promote Lampard forward to the left side of the diamond Sven likes to play.

And is Rooney worthy of a starting place?

 rofl

Ole' Sven has to be the WORST manager in top flight football

He's rubbish

Japan aren't even good enough to be classed as a third rate footballing nation

England have superb players - yet the team plays like shite - that just so happens to be the job of one man......

England players superb? What you have are less than superb premiership players, in the Italian or Spanish league, most of them would be struggling to get a game.

Just because you watch them every week, don't make them great. It shows Internationally who has superb players, and England are far from the top of the pile, no matter what FIFA say.

I know what u mean but we still do have a very good team - there are few national teams Owen, Gerrard and Beckham wouldn't be in

There is a lot of crap in the team - David James, Paul Scholes - (3 years without a goal!) but overall there pretty decent - and more than a match for Japan....

Jacques Santini (The France manager) has been confirmed as the new Spurs manager.  ok

He has my aproval. We need a (good) tactician after having to ednure Hoddle and Pleat...

I look forward to next season with renewed optimism now. Tottenham have a reknowned manager at long last.

And to think, people were dicussing Curbishly comming to the club...

Ah Spurs.....

Every year a new manager, every year millions spent and yet they just....get....worse, i don't know how they do it.

I notice Postiga is about to be loaned out - speninf 8 million on an unkown player - way to go ok

I suppose on the bright side Spurs can't get any worse - and they can't get relegated either - Norwich, West Brom and Palace have already reserved those places!

Well good luck to them....there gonna need it
