Thats just how David Allen Coe writes and thats his lifestyle to a degree and what he has built his career on. I wouldn't call it funny.. You got respect him for not going the nashville way and writing his own music and living the way he wants too no matter if he sells 5 albums or 250000.

While I wouldn't describe any of these albums as amazing, they're all good solid albums nevertheless, that have come out this year:
Audioslave - Revelations
Black Label Society - Shot To Hell
The Butterfly Effect - IMAGO
Foo Fighters - Skin & Bones
Pearl Jam - Pearl Jam
Rebel Meets Rebel - Rebel Meets Rebel

Tool - 10,000 days
Mastodon - Blood Mountian
Lamb Of God - Sacrament
Strapping Young Lad - The New Black
Isis - In The Absense Of Truth (currently listening to make sure!)
Of big name releases Maiden and Slayer's albums were not among the best efforts of either band sadly. I also admit I only gave Stadium Arcadium one listen but it sounded like coffee-table (i.e. watered down) rock to me. I guess the Chilis are getting older! Was looking forward to United Abominations and obviously CD, but both will hopefully surface in 2007...

Red Hot Chilli Peppers- Stadium Arcadium
Iron Maiden- A Matter of life and Death (def. not their best work but at least better than their last few releases)
Wolfmother- S/T
JET- Shine on (The first time I listened to this I couldn't believe how much they've improved, WAAAY better than Get Born)

Well considering how crap they were to begin with, I suppose there's always room for improvement...
I'm sorry, showing your influences is one thing, but these guys just flat out copy early AC/DC almost to the point of plagiarism. Do yourself a favour and check out the original and best - Bon Scott era AC/DC

Wow arent you witty. Just so you know I was into AC/DC way before I ever heard Jet. I had, and still have, almost every album they released. I can see how you could see them as strongly showing there influences but they arent ripping them off to the point of plagarism as you put it. Infact there's not very much AC/DC influence on the new record and they happened to have written some damn good songs.
BTW as far as music goes this year I'd much rather hear a band that sounds like AC/DC than all that emo shit thats out right now.

So I glanced over my records after seeing this thread... and the only CDs I purchased were indie bands.
I guess the mainstrem albums I've enjoyed the most this year would be:
1. Ben Harper - Both Sides Of The Gun
2. Lupe Fiasco - Food & Liqour
3. Ziggy Marley - Love Is My Religion
4. Red Hot Chili Peppers - Stadium Arcadium
... and I recommend everybody check out Tumi And The Volume & Ohbijou....

Good to hear you were an AC/DC fan before Jet. And yeah I suppose I'd prefer an AC/DC sounding band to some emo crap.
But I just don't like Jet, they're so unoriginal and people claim them to be the best thing since sliced bread, same with Wolfmother...
How about taking those AC/DC influences and creating a new original sound rather than copying it?
