Yeah, i know what you mean, like the rig and stuff, and the lighting.  ok

The stage is probably bigger at bigger venues, but its not like GNR played in any really small venues like clubs, I wouldn't be surprised if they only had one, maybe even two stages. Its comes in pieces, so maybe they only use certain bits for smaller venues.

I think the only difference these days is the truss, lighting, and Axl's Peninsula.

I like the sound of that.....Axl's Peninsula.....yep.  Cool yes

Unless they start going solo in stadiums and arena's.

European people, what was the stage like in the arena's?  Did they have their "own thing" going for them?

Typically the outdoor shows had a slightly different stage from the arena shows, which were all the same.

The venue doesn't provide the stage! Only at the clubs and real small venues.

They had a cool set up this year. I would recommend doing like U2 does and have a walkway go out from the stage and out around into the audience. There could then be people inside the walkway. That would be awesome. Of course Chinese Democracu would have to be released and they could do this because of the bigger crowds.

They may not have the money for it. They were packing more people into those venues in the early 1990s. I remember in the mid-1990s US did a pretty big world tour and only broke even because of their elaborate set up (of course they had lights shows with lazers and shit, but anyway). The next time they went on tour, they got a sponsor to help pay for it, and of course everyone called them sell-outs.

I'm not saying GNR is broke by any means, but they certainly have more people in the band and they have more opening acts who ar eprobably getting some small percentage anyway.

Queen never made a profit on any of their tours from 1971 - 1985. The only tour to make any profit was their last, '86's A Kind Of Magic Tour.

Unless it is a really specialized stage, the venue most of the time provides the basic deck and then the band has stuff to add on to it when they get there.  The reason that bands don't usually travel with a stage is because the stage goes up 1 or 2 days before hand in prep and it cuts down on load in and load out times for the crew.  If GnR carried their own stage with them, the crew would never make it to the next venue on time to be set up.

Arena's do not supply a stage.  The band has trucks that carry the gear from show to show.

Yep, I may be doing another Queen comparison, but in they had 2 teams with stages, as one took it down, the other set it up and so on. It only takes about 8 hours to set up, so the GNR crew would have time to do it.
