There's no issue about the European music market. There's only you trying to turn this into a "USA! USA! USA!" thread. The fact that albums are out on Mondays in Europe hardly has anything to do with David Hasselhoff.

Now, either stay on topic or fuck off.? Tongue

/jarmo

No I wasn't. I presented a question, that no one answered. All I got were these 'they are released on Mondays, and that's just the way it is'. One guy attempted to debate my theory.

I wasn't looking for an argument. I made the Hasselhoff comment, because everyone turned this into a USA vs. Europe contest.

The music business. The business itself, and what revolves around it, is firmly based in the U.S. Always has been. This is fact. I'm not trying to say USA, USA, USA man, i'm really not. I'm just saying record execs look at what stuff does in the states alot more seriously than anything else.

I thought, that maybe they might want to release it worldwide, same day, to avoid piracy. I don't get a flyin' fuck if Europe gets it first, as long as we get it.

In regard to the supposed European Tour... I was glad to have been able to share that little piece of information with you. However, I haven't heard back since. I fully believe it was, possibly still is, in the plans.

to end the discussion who got the biggest and most important music market once and for all and yes CDs are usually released EARLIER in the EU then in the US...in Germany mostly even the FRIDAY BEFORE THE US RELEASE ON TUESDAY. This is a fact and has nothing to do with David Hasselhoff or some bullshit that some markets are more liked then others. It is also possible though that it will be released the same day worldwide which happens sometimes but it is very uncommon! The reason for the friday release is that the CD can appear in the charts, starting on the monday of the following week. CDs are released on fridays in Germany since Sept. 23rd 2005 (http://www.cdstarts.de/nachrichten/CDs%20kommen%20zuk%FCnftig%20Freitags%20auf%20den%20Markt.html)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_music_market

Both music markets are ABOUT THE SAME SIZE in USD!

GnR most likely toured Europe first because of the festivals that bring a lot of money....and maybe a they did not have a tour promoter for the US back then

Forgot: EMI (EMI GROUP PLC, UK) and UMG (VIVENDI SA, France) belong to European based companys. Sony BMG Music Entertainment is about half European (Bertelsmann AG, Germany) and half Japanese (Sony). The only american controlled major label is Warner with a market share of about 15%. Maybe that`ll end the discussion about the European and American market importance Grin

merck said the tour would start around march in dubai.....  so these plans are probably quite old...(as merck isn`t quite in the loop for some months now as well...)

i think it`s the asian tour....  another european tour that soon doesn`t make sense to me...

I think it makes perfect sense, at least more sense than playing somewhere in Siberia. I think they'll play in western Russia and then either tour Europe, or they'll go to Dubai (as was rumored) and China, Japan, maybe go to Australia and New Zealand, maybe even going north to Singapore or something.

If it starts in Feb. I only see them touring for a little over a month before returning to the US and Europe for album promotion.

Thats what doesn't make sense, why would they be in Russia just a couple weeks before the big release?  Undecided

what you're saying makes sense...they have to be around come release time for promotion, interviews, appearances etc.

maybe they'll do a couple of shows (warm-up's?) in Asia, Dubai, Russia before the album is released then head to Europe for a brief tour and some press. Once the album is out they will tour, that's obvious!

Lets just hope that another tour isn't about raising money to complete the CD!
