Axl Loyalist

« on: December 17, 2006, 11:10:59 PM »

Since Korn just recently finished filming an MTV Unplugged show, it would be nice if the series eventually continued with Guns N' Roses. They obviously would have a setlist already available to them since they have played two such shows already. And if they do, they should include 'We Are Sailing', because that is the best thing (vocally) I've heard of Axl since he has been "back".

It would also be an excellent promotion tool for Chinese Democracy. MTV reaches enough new people to make the show worth it.

Not to mention it would be excellent.

Now THAT's a good idea.  And within the realm of possibilities I'd say.

This would be amazing, with the whole band swapping between steel acoustics, 12 strings, maybe even a hollow or a semi-hollow electric.. Pittman and Dizzy adding some keys.. Would sound beautiful.

"Madagascar" acoustic  Shocked

"There Was A Time" would sound awesome as well.

Imagine the whole band set up across the stage, with the chinese backdrop and the curtains / stage setup playing acoustics.. would have a really nice touch.. but I think such an event would have to wait until a few months following the album's release, just so people can really absorb the songs before they hear it more stripped down

I have to hear IRS acoustic. Apparently it was played at the acoustic shows.

Come to think of it....EVERYTHING would sound AWESOME!

If GNR does one thing as promotion for this album besides a music video, I want THIS!

I think it's an amazing idea.... but I think it might be even better if they wait until the album has been out for a few months. ?Do the MTV Unplugged thing with a mix of old and new songs and release the show as a CD.

Honestly I think it would be one of the best things for the band to do.

That, actually, is a great idea.  Would give the public an introduction to the new band if they don't know who they are.  Also, would be good promoting for new cd and songs.  Very good idea.  Jarmo tell the band.

Itd probably be more like this realistically:

1. Welcome To The Jungle
2. Mr. Brownstone
3. Better
4) Knockin'
5) IRS
6) Madagascar
7) The Blues
Cool Sweet Child O' Mine
9) You're Crazy
10) Used To Love Her
11) Patience

(not really in that order but those are songs I can see them playing)

Come on...

What about "Madagascar" acoustic?

Imagine..

12 string acoustics..
A nice hollow body electric for Richard's leads
The strings and brass / keyboards / synth

They'd have to do a few off side 2 from Lies.

I think late 07 would be perfect for the timing of it should we see CD in March.

I accept people's setlist, but I don't think such an occasion should be used to hear ridiculously stripped down versions of those classics we know so well how they should be heard - loud

Such judgement should wait until after the release of CD, but in the meantime I feel there could be a number of new songs we haven't heard yet that offer a new dynamic to GNR.. and leave the rest of the space for obvious older songs that work in acoustic / stripped down format.. "Welcome to the Jungle" might sound fun acoustic in a small club but in terms of a MTV production..

I hope people understand where I'm coming from..

A setlist would maybe start off along the lines of..

"Madagascar"
"There Was A Time"
"Catcher in the Rye"
"Used to Love Her"
"You're Crazy"
"Live and Let Die"
"Don't Cry"
"The Blues"
"Patience"
"Knocking on Heaven's Door"
"November Rain"
"Civil War"
"Sweet Child of Mine"

(Not in Order)

that would be fuckin cool but I don't see them playing jungle and  SCOM acoustic, it would just butcher the songs....there are so many other songs to pick that would be cool...
