Myself, I was never a NR fan. Its was slow, and a little boring. I wouldnt put this song above Coma or Estranged, but just below them. Especially the las 2 min  ok

The guitar work on all of these demos needs to improve dramatically before we start talking about being the best Guns song ever. None of the 8-10 new Guns songs we have heard so far(Demos and Live) have come close to approaching the guitar work in NR, Estranged or SCOM.

Axl's lyrics and melodies are great, but that is only half the song. All of the production value in the world won't turn the guitar work we have heard into a riffs/solos we will be talking about 20 years from now.

These songs aren't finished, there will probably be more guitar work laid down on the final versions.  But Buckethead's outro on TWAT is right up there with the classics to me, that's an awesome solo

I think the mix is bad in this song. If any songs ever needed the polished sound of the Illusions its Catcher and the demos.

The polished sound of the Illusions is what hurt the albums (among other things).

Just heard Catcher in the Rye, and to be honest, I know its a demo, but I wasn't impressed at all.  Of all the new songs, I think TWAT is the most epic, its definetly on par with the old stuff and maybe better then most of it.  Better and IRS are better then anything that has been played on the radio in the past few years.  I know it my opinion but CITR is maybe a notch above silkworms.

Sure, it's your opinion and that's cool,

but I would be interested to know what you think of Catcher in the Rye after about ten listens.  Smiley

i've listened to it about 20-30 times easily and feel it's the weakest of the demo's and just above silkworms and rhiad but still below "omg" , "madagascar" and "the blues"

Yeah, and Jessica Alba's maybe a notch above Sara Jessica Parker. ?Grin

Seriously, Silkworms? ?Don't say things you can't take back. ? rofl

CITR is good and has the potential for greatness in my eyes. ?
TWAT is great with even greater potential for greater greatness! ? hihi

I love CITR! ?At first it seemed too mellow and i had no f***ing clue wat the hell he was singing about, but after learnng its message and listening to the song a lot, i've grown to love it. ?The vocal melodies are great at the end, kinda coma-ish and the guitar is cool, although its kinda quiet in the mix. ?For me, its slightly better than, well, Better and TWAT.

Silk Worms live is better than most GN'R songs live.  If your listening on a CD, then Madagascar and TWAT would be the BEST by far.  With Better coming in a close second.
