I can't belive people are saying this is the best guns song ever. its an ok demo but doesn't come close to the classics on the illusions at this point. it may have some potential but i like twat and irs better. with some work they may be get to the level of estranged and locomotive etc.

You people at this board give a new level to the word "nutswinger." ?Its all good though, I am a GN'R nutswinger too, but holy shit, people...you remind me of the people at Star Trek conventions wearing Klingon makeup. ?If Axl asked you to commit suicide for a ride on the comet, would you?

Hey, take it easy now.

And about the song, it's really good, I don't see it as Guns N' Roses best ever, but when I hear the finished version, maybe I'll change my mind, it's a mind-blowing song.

Catcher in the Rye is a great song, yes, but I think you are just overexcited by it now... Its a great song but it doesnt come 1% close to the greatness of November Rain and its solos  drool

If CITR receives a good production and a better ending (the last minute sounds boring and plain to me), it could be a big classic

« Reply #933 on: March 05, 2006, 09:52:55 PM »

Catcher is a good song, but I'd place it in the "Locomotive" / "Breakdown" catagory of Gn'R songs - really good songs but not true masterpieces / songs that are great but won't get reconized as great by everyone...

I think The Blues fits in with with Don't Cry - meaning it's a beautiful song but it's not a true epic / masterpiece in the sence that NR and Estranged are.

TWAT and Madagascar on the other hand are my new November Rain / Estranged.  Estranged and NR are for sure the 2 focal points and epic highlights of the UYI era and the Gn'R era in fact.  I think that TWAT and Madagascar will be the new Gn'R's epic accomplishments for the Chinese Democracy era of the band. Cool

All I know is, with Madagascar, TWAT, The Blues and Catcher In The Rye all on the same disc, Chinese Democracy is going to be truly epic. drool

I like CITR, can't wait to hear the final version.  But to me it's not even the best of the recently leaked songs, that honor goes to TWAT

I was walking around all day today with the tune in my head. Can't get  rid of it, but don't really want to. That song  is a keeper for sure. Sounds like UYI era, which I like immensely better than the techno-industrial experimental crap.

If you hear the nov rain demo (just piano version) before the UYIs came out, most of you would claim how  boring it sounds. CITR is going to blow the doors off nov rain when its complete.

To be fair, CITR is further along than the November Rain demo.  But also to be fair, it's not a very high quality recording, it's not a great mix, and it's not a finished song, and I'm sure the version we get on the album will be amazing, as with all these songs

this song, even though heard only as a demo yet, is one of the most amazing pieces of music i have ever heard. simply breathtaking. the feel of the song, the lyrics, the vocal melodies, everything. when he says "on an ordinary day, not in an ordinary way" and "so now you set the wheels in motion, all-time memories" i get misty-eyed. it's perfect, i can't wait for the album version! axl is a genius, period point blank, if anyone ever doubted that smoking

I totally agree. ?The first time I heard the song I only liked it. ?Now I can't stop listening to it. ?It's amaizing. ?
