amen to that brother! i hate buckethead. shredding was cool in 1987.... there in so place for it in this century. bucketheads solo on better is awful... just a bunch of chromatic wanking... no soul or passion at all. robin on the other hand, i feel his vibe.. he gets what axl is about

I think Bucket has tons of soul ok

All this talk about a song 'Catcher in the Rye' possibly based around a person 'Chapman' with issues who shot a celebrity 'John Lennon' from a popular band 'the Beatles' is all kinda interesting and has deep meaning. On the surface, the sound, the important part for me, the sound is average. Brain Mays guitar part is well done, not Buckethead mind blowing, not Slash grinding.  Over half the kick ass tracks on AFD over shadow Catcher in the Rye by a long shot  Smiley

So far BH's playing on the 2nd part of Better is the highlight for me of the new songs. That was pretty impressive. CITR, im having some trouble keeping the song on play after a few listens.

I don't know why everyone is talking so greatly about BH. From what I've heard on the leaks, I like Robin's work better then BH's. When I here BH I say, "Wow, that guy's fantastic, and now I'm bored." He shreds like a mofo, but there's no suspense or feeling in his solos. Robin knows how to leave you hanging on leading tones and he makes his solos really fit the song. BH just plays the same solo in a different key.

I agree with you, except that I don't think Bucket is as bad as you paint him. For example Madagascar has a very soulful solo, and I think his one on IRS fits the song really well. But I'm not a big fan of most of his work on Guns N' Roses (Chinese Democracy for example really needs to lose his solo).

man this song is beutiful. i love May's work in it, but you know if Slash was playing on this he would tear this fucker down! november rain style. i have the same feeling about TWAT too, but all the guitar work is pretty good. hard for me to really put a theme to the lyrics but ill go with the Lennon/JFK theroys of some of the others.

i dont know what else to say except, this album is going to be soooo fucking good. and these are just demos, they can be better! Axl will NEVER be able to "bury AFD" like he wanted to do with Illusions, thats just something in rock history that will always be solid and great. but i get the feeling that a few years from now, he might want to bury "CD". because this is right up there with anything that has ever been created.  peace

I'm not sure who you're aiming that at, but I want to be clear that I believe BH is a great player, I just don't like what he does in GN'R.

I don't know if it's complete, I feel like one more leak is out there.. Just seems to end abruptly, maybe a few lines short or something...  Anyone else feel it might be a tad short??

Sounds like CITR has a fade out ending, but yes, it cuts out few seconds too soon.

They should have put CITR on the "End of Days" soundtrack, easily the best song of the past 10+ years.

Not even the best Maroon 5 song  no

this song, even though heard only as a demo yet, is one of the most amazing pieces of music i have ever heard. simply breathtaking. the feel of the song, the lyrics, the vocal melodies, everything. when he says "on an ordinary day, not in an ordinary way" and "so now you set the wheels in motion, all-time memories" i get misty-eyed. it's perfect, i can't wait for the album version! axl is a genius, period point blank, if anyone ever doubted that smoking

No question, this is great tune and I am very hopeful that this song makes the final track listing for CD
Wonder if this would make a good single for GNR??

CITR has the potential to be one of axl's best-but i cant put it there yet until i hear a final mix.

TWAT is also in this category, IMO.

Wow... You must not have like very much of Appitite.

CITR isn't even my favorite demo lol. IRS is. Catcher is way to slow and repetitive.

Funny how there's more GN'R in Velvet Revolver then there is in Guns N' Roses.
