Proper medical coverage can help 95% of schizophrenics.? But that would take the government to actually help some of the poorer people with that illness.? I'm bi-polar myself.? But I have a good job, med coverage, etc. and I do just fine.  Hell i'm more stable than anyone else I know hihi? But I'm off-topic.? It's just from experience that I feel for people with mental health issues.

Just a statement like "Chapman is an asshole" "wanted to be famous" is just way to simplistic.

Yes he was nuts...but tortured.

http://www.crimelibrary.com/classics4/chapman/

And I think this is a tribute to Lennon.  I remember the day he was shot.  I was 5 years old and I can remember standing right next to the Piano in our house...i can remember my parents talking about it...and my oldest sister crying.

My next door neighbor was like 13 and I remember just watching his face as he was crying....just thinking why is he crying?

And hearing this song made me think about all that stuff...will make a lot of people remember that day a 1/4 of a century ago.  What more of a tribute is there than that?

I agree with you about this. I think Chapman realized what every young adult realizes at one point in their lives; namely, that for the most part they won't be wealthy, famous, or important, at least not on a macroscopic scale. Some individuals can deal with this disillusiionment, but others become inflamed at their idols who they feel abandoned them. People for the most part are phonies, feeling the need to impress or intimidate with a responsible and inflexible facade. I'm certain that Chapman was disappointed with his life, couldn't rationalize or alleviate the bitterness inside him, and decided to act out to prove to himself that he could be a person who makes a difference in the world. There is alot more to him that I left out; read the crimelibrary article to root out his other problems, mostly diagnosable and treatable.

And now back to the song itself.............

The more I listen the more I love this song.?

Like Brian said.........."Axl is magic".

it's a doctored copy of the orig leak, it's the best one I've heard, the orig leak 'skips' near the end and then just abruptly stops. dunno if there is a 2 minutes left or 2 seconds Undecided

I am really really really liking Catcher In The Rye....

At first I didn't thought it was that special but now it is my fave new one. I has an amazing emotional vibe. It surpases even The Blues (well, haven't heard the studio version yet).

Thanks to Uncle Axl for this amazing tune. It will do very good with the mainstream audience.

I really feel the same, the song has tha fungus effect..... I don't know if the song will be big because of the lyrics being most younger people have no clue about the event of dec 1980, but it has enough of that very cool melody with that pop rock type effect

You know what I think? I don't think most of the audience outside the US will care for the lyrics that much. Coldplay is major here in Europe and I don't have a fucking clue as to what their songs are about. Same for Radiohead and Placebo, I really don't get what their songs are about. Both major selling artists here in Europe.

People will hook into the vibe of a song, and if there's great lyrics then that's a plus. If English isn't your first language it sounds pretty good pretty easy.

Unless it's Madonna nursery rhyme lyrics  hihi

All this talk about a song 'Catcher in the Rye' possibly based around a person 'Chapman' with issues who shot a celebrity 'John Lennon' from a popular band 'the Beatles' is all kinda interesting and has deep meaning. On the surface, the sound, the important part for me, the sound is average. Brain Mays guitar part is well done, not Buckethead mind blowing, not Slash grinding.  Over half the kick ass tracks on AFD over shadow Catcher in the Rye by a long shot  Smiley

So far BH's playing on the 2nd part of Better is the highlight for me of the new songs. That was pretty impressive. CITR, im having some trouble keeping the song on play after a few listens.

I don't know why everyone is talking so greatly about BH. From what I've heard on the leaks, I like Robin's work better then BH's. When I here BH I say, "Wow, that guy's fantastic, and now I'm bored." He shreds like a mofo, but there's no suspense or feeling in his solos. Robin knows how to leave you hanging on leading tones and he makes his solos really fit the song. BH just plays the same solo in a different key.

beer amen to that brother! i hate buckethead. shredding was cool in 1987.... there in so place for it in this century. bucketheads solo on better is awful... just a bunch of chromatic wanking... no soul or passion at all. robin on the other hand, i feel his vibe.. he gets what axl is about
