Do you guys think the 'na na na' part could have been an intentional 'ripoff' from 'Hey Jude', since that song is about Lennon's son?
Someone might have brought this up already. I dont remember.
I thought the same!
Maybe Axl likes to make a stronger reference to Lennon using this nanana.
Hey Jude was written by Paul, though

Hey Jude was written by Paul, though
True, but that doesn't change the symbolism of using it in the song,

FYI Paul wrote Hey Jude for John's son Jules. He was going through hard times with the sepration and Paul wrote it to try and make him feel better.

It seems like most people like this song, several people who don't like it mentioned they didn't like Axl's vocals specifically, but I have to say I think the vocals are really great in this song, verse and chorus. Regardless of any additional work that might have been done to this song, this very vocal track with properly mixed instrumentation would sound fantastic!
One thing I find amazing is that in these 5 songs (Oh My God + newer 4) we basically have Axl singing in 5 different ways, and they are all excellent. One of the first things I noticed about Appetite was that he could sing in so many different ways.
absolutely, i always noticed this about axl too, and i think the new songs show, not only vocally but also musically, even better than the old ones how an incredibly talented and complex artist axl rose is.

I am pretty mad at myself for listening to this. To give myself credit I listened to it three times and then trashed it. I want a little surprise when and if the cd comes out. Now I can't get the song out of my head. Has a Beatles and Queen feel to me with of course GNR. I loved the song. Great little ballad. Axl sounds great. Might be great for one of the last songs on the cd.

Like most people, I like the song. I am not sure it is better than the ballads during the UYI era however.

I can't believe you guys noticed the Hey Jude comparison too. That was the first song that came into my head wen i heard the na na na na part.

That's coz it isn't rock n roll any more, i dont even know what to call it but i dont care cuz the only song that deserves to be in the GNR back catalgue from what ive heard is The Blues.

Alright, I'm going to vent here a bit after listening to it.
I love Guns N' Roses. I love nearly every song they've done. I really like the new ones for the most part. And I love the book
Catcher In The Rye
by Salinger. But I don't like this song quite as much.
The lyrics are great, but the music just seems a bit lacking in some spots. At times, Axl seems to be channelling 1988 power ballads with some Queen mixed in. The end of the song, the last verse, is the best part. The middle just feels way too crowded and overdone with its billion vocal lines.
I did get a Beatles feeling to it that I like-- I never liked the Beatles much but really got into them in a huge way over the last few months.
However, this is not to say this song doesn't serve a purpose. It would be excellent for a soundtrack and could have a hell of a music video to go with it. But as a song alone, I don't really like it as much.
uncleslashbob-- it's 5:37.
