greatest song thus far (cause it works for me, lyrics melodies and Brian May!!! etc), so it's all personal opinion. I just love how the song breaks down with the synth part......beautifull! My favorite along with madagascar thus far.....oh wait........Better is great too..........yayaya...... ?

CITR is a great song. It has a classic, yet modern feel to it.
It doesn't fit into another time. It will be a nice filler as a mellow track on CD.
Yea it is a really good tune...so far but I'm saying i like the direction of the other tracks 'Better'
(this post is dedicated to Buddha Master
)
Face it, music nowadays sucks balls, there needs to be a new type of sound to kick the music world in the fucking ass. Someone (on mygnr I think) described IRS, TWAT and Better as "BiPolar Rock" (You never know when it's gonna change direction). the first 3 leaks we got blew my fucking mind and i feel they have the potential to kickstart the industry again. The world doesn't need more Pansy-ass shit, there is too much already, what it needs is Mutha fucking headbanging!!!! GnR has enough NR's and DC's and Estranged's etc. etc., one on the album is ok.....but no more!!!
*OUT LOUD THOUGHT* maybe that's why there is rumors that The Blues isn't on CD. God i hope so, but "this I love" doesn't sound too fucking promising either

Where did you hear that??
I will be extremely disappointed if thats not on the album. He just cant throw that song away. If its not on the album, he should "leak" a studio quality version to the forums. If its one of his favorites, I dont see why it wouldnt make the album.

Once again, Axl comes through with distinct and awesome vocal melodies? ?
That's one of the many things that really sets him apart from most other lead singers, he has the inate ability to put his lyrics over the music in the perfect way time after time
exactly, his vocal melodies and lyricical quality are absolutely astounding.
The synth break down is amazing, theres alot of shit going on in this song, the final version is going to be sick.

Well unfortunately i've only got the Hissy version, but i absolutely love this song, and i'm glad as i think someone has said, there is a variety of different sounds coming from this album. Something that alot of todays bands can't seem to grasp sticking to the same sound that gets boring after a while.

It sure would be nice if someone could post an opinion that contradicts everyone else on the board without being told that they are just looking for another appetite or UYI album. ?Like I said, I am lukewarm to the song, don't really like the vocals, but there are some parts that I genuinely like, and the fact that it is a demo I think I will hold opinion on the vocals, because some of the demos for AFD and UYI didn't sound anything like the album versions.
That being said, just because someone doesn't like this particular song does not mean that they are narrow minded and just want a rehash of the Illusions or Appetite. ?Just because someone does something different from what they had done before doesn't mean that it is going to be good. ?I do however admire his courage in trying something new, but right now CITR just isn't doing it for me. ?I don't hate it, I just put it on par with something like "breakdown". ?I loved Twat, I.R.S and Better though.

There will always be people who refuse to see that some people just don't like some music as much as they do.. If they like it less, it must be because they haven't thought of listening to it the right way, or something. GN'R has always divided opinions... It's not a bad thing.

Well, the reason that people are so mean to people who don't like catcher in the rye is because most people love CITR.
I am one of those that love it.---
I myself do not see how you can like T.W.A.T. but you don't like CITR?

It's like how you cannot like My world when you love better...My world is my fav off UYI BTW.
Haven't listend to it enough but I guess it's my least fav leek so far.
The intro is like a mixture of imagine, let it be and NR
Some part reminds me of a fool on the hill
I like the development after 1:18~towards lalala bit.
the lyrics are great and nice ideas here and there but as a whole the focus of the song is blurred on this take.
Polly an old demo in the early stage of development?
I mean, great potential.

Maybe I'm listening to this song WAY too much, but does anyone hear the guitar intro to "back to the moment" from Snakepit at around 0:21 in the background of CITR. Its actually repeated a few times throughout the song. Just bored and curious if anyone else hears it? MAYBE ITS SLASH!?!?!? haha kidding.

Brilliant. Best demo yet. T.W.A.T pales considerably next to this track.
If the rest of the album is this quality it will be the only thing left in my record collection. This song, after only three listens, amazes and captivates me. There are so many beautifully written sections to this song and so many perfect ballad sections.
Love it to bits.

To those putting IRS so fucking low...What the fuck?!
Are some of you just not into rocking anymore? IRS kicks so much ass. Fucking shocked by some of you.
The other thing is, just because someone isnt into CITR doesn't have a thing to do with this "division on the new material theory."
If someone loves the shit out of every leak but CITR then I think the overly loving CITR fans are in the minority on this album.
That might have come out wrong. What I mean is most songs I believe are going to be the new sounding shit of the first 3 leaks. The ones who love CITR most might like CD less then the rest of us.

Dizzy Speaks About Various Issues
Posted by admin under Chinese Democracy , Chris , Dizzy

Dizzy spoke to a potential booker, the content of which has been posted to various GN?R fan forums. Dizzy said;
- He does not know about the rumor that GnR will have a new song on the soundtrack for the movie ?Da Vinci Code? - its a possibility for its Spring 2006 release but its something that Axl?s dealing with
- Buckethead?s guitar parts will remain on Chinese Democracy.
- Chris Pittman, 2nd keyboardist, is still in GnR.
- The epic track ?Catcher in the Rye? will be on Chinese Democracy and is written by Axl based upon the book of the same name and will have a different sound from UYI epics.
- Silkworms & Rhiad & Bedouins will NOT be on Chinese Democracy. They were simply test tracks that the band tried out during the 2001-2002 tour.
i dont care about worms but fuck man rhiad is a kick ass song they better put it out on someting..
Again sorry for the misunderstanding, my memory is not the best sometimes

CITR is brilliant. How can you not see that? Its not mindlessly heavy rock with screaming all over the place, but the lyrics, the bridges, the chorus, the solos and the whole atmosphere of the song is fantastic. Its also got more classic GNR in it than the other leaks.

Dude, I've played it probably close to 100 times by now and its just as good as the 1st time. Its just a fantastic song.
Buddha_Master - Totally agree with you, IRS seems to be getting the shaft in all the leak talk. Good song, very good rocker with a sick outro. I think, as with all the demos, that the studio version will be 1,000 times better even. Go read the thoughts on IRS thread, its getting some love, but I think b/c its an "older" leak people have had their fill talking about it.

that's the thing though, with 12 years in the making, why go back in time to 1991 and hear another NR? Time to move forward and rock the fuck out.
Sometimes it's alright to be mellow but most times...no
Seriously though, IMO the better Guns songs are the faster, heavier ones, Axl was built to sing Hard Rock, and it shows on IRS, TWAT and Better. ?
I fell in love with tunes like WTTJ and NT and OTGM and YCBM etc etc. and the first 3 leaks pointed in that direction, The slower paced tunes are good for a change of pace, but not to set the pace
If i had my way the slowest tune in GnR's catalogue would be OIAM
and Admit it you only listen to NR to get to the kick ass outro
@ busngabb you sound like my fucking dad with that statement
@ Buddha I think IRS is fant-fucking-tastic as well, but Better is the bestest

Even though I'm really digging this song, I don't think everyone should be up in arms about how it might represent the overall sound of the forthcoming CD.
What if you only heard demos of So fine, My World and Shotgun Blues before UYI I and II came out? The albums is clearly going to have an assortment of rockers, epics and ballads. I'm sure the final CD will please all of us, but these are still just demos.
Let's just enjoy each song for what it is (whether you love it or think it's mediocre) and make broad judgements about the overall GNR sound when we get the REAL DEAL!
