I wonder if Slash and Duff regret leaving AXL behind...
No, 'cause Axl's not the only one who has worked on these songs.
I like to think they're the product of Axl, Tommy, Dizzy, Bucket, Finck and some other guys.

I think the final version of this will be incredible.
It feels like it could be the perfect closing song on the Chinese Democracy CD.

I totally agree! This song should close up the album  Cool
A perfect nachspiel song...

Yeah I can see it closing the record out. Lets hope we get to see that soon.

I"m wondering, is this a tribute to Lennon, or more of a 1st person perspective on Mark David Chapman???  Axl going for the controversial angle again???

Didn't the 1999 RS article say this would be a tribute to John Lennon?

Well, musically and stylistically, at the very least, it is. ?This is so much a homage to Lennon's Beatles stuff it's almost uncanny. ?It's both subtle enough that 90% of the music listeners (think "normal" rock radio...because this has single written all over it) won't notice it much but overt enough that those who recognize it are going to get it instantly.

Somwhere, John is smiling.

The weakest song yet IMHO. I like it, don't get me wrong... it just isn't what I am looking for in a GnR song. If I want mellow Beatles throw backs I will listen to someone who does it a little more naturally.

Not weak, just the weakest. It is just my least favorite of the new demos.

Of the 4, it's my least favorite.

But, that being said, I love it! Smiley ?It's an awesome song.

I think it ranks alongside 'My World' as the worst track Guns have ever put their name to.

That's where I feel a lot of division on the new material will begin.  If someone has a set idea of what a GN'R song should sound like, then I fear they will not like a fair portion of the new material.

It's my personal belief that you're doing yourself and the material you're listening to a disservice by going into listening to it with a particular expectation of the sound.  It's obvious that Axl's vision for GN'R is to be an evolving entity, free from absolute classifications.  Therefore, I believe that it's time to let go of expectations for what GN'R should sound like.

That's just how I feel, and I think that it's helping me to appreciate the new songs on their own merits.

It sounds bloody awful. It's dreary. The vocals are weak.

Absolutely 100% agree.

It's not 1987, or 1992 for that matter,  anymore.  If you're expecting any of the new stuff to sound "like Gnr" (which would mean like AFD or like UYI) you're going to be disappointed.

Listen to the stuff with an open mind, and you'll enjoy it a lot more!
