Scanning through the various forums, there are asshats saying they "can't believe Axl would write crap like this" and shit, WTF! There comes a point when you have to admit a song's quality. This song is a piece of art. I understand taste is subjective, but this song is made of the stuff that we love about music. This is a classic in the making...
Alot of the young people, or those immature, will not really 'get it'. This isnt gonna be what alot of people are used to listening to. Axl has grown up finally, and it shows through these new songs. I'm really enjoying the fact that he is conveying his meaning in these songs without the need to take the easy way out and use profanity to get that message across. I now understand why it took him a few years to come up with lyrics. His writing is simply amazing.

Anybody else trying to figure out where the "Catcher in the Rye" comes from? "Won't let ya get away from him" - If the song's about Chapman/Lennon, "him" could be the book itself and Chapman trying to get away from his obsession with it, or is he talking about some sort of transition in life? At the beginning he says "old folks", and at the end he says "young folks", in the book, the Catcher in the Rye was "catching" kids that were crossing the edge from childhood into adulthood. Food for thought Smiley

Just got the full version.... that song is OUTRAGEOUS.... I honestly feel that's the best Guns N' Roses song I've heard since November Rain 15 years ago. Fvcking brilliant. I think the sudden shifts in that song really work... Freddie Mercury would pat Axl on the shoulder and say you've done good my child.

Axl fans will LOVE that song... a beautiful homage to Queen mixed with pure grain AXL ROSE. Lastly, if CITR is really about Lennon, the music media will be blowing Axl over that song... how can they possibly pan a song about their God John Lennon?peace

I don't get that Queen vibe at all from this song.... it's very 70's but not Queen

Boring. There's nothing in it that gets me interested. 'Naan-naan-naan-nnaan' -part really sucks. Worst of the leaked demos.

SADIS,

I think the sudden shifts in tempo and the guitar work (Brian May possibly) reek of Queen to me personally....

You're right though... definitely a 70's feel...

I like this track. Way better than TWAT in my opinion (which was the only song I've been disappointed with).

Still loving it... Honestly, and this is just an observation, not an insult - I think some people have forgotten how to appreciate a low-key, catchy melody and an intelligently written pop song.

I just don't like 'a low-key, catchy melody and an intelligently written pop song'. Simple as that. There's nothing interesting in this song, and the melody ain't that good. But this is just my opinion. ?
