I actually like Axl's voice in this song. ? I have to listen to it a few times myself to let it sink in. ? I do really like it so far.

I guess I'll go with the unpopular route..
This is the Worst leak so far, narrowly edging out I.R.S.
The song just does nothing for me. It sounds like it's trying to be an "epic", trying to reach that November Rain and Estranged status, but it falls extremely short.
One thing that annoys me about this song is that it seems to keep building to something, like you're waiting for the big November Rain-esque solo, or the unforgettable riffs in Estranged and SCOM, but it just.. never happens. There's a decent little solo in the middle, but this song keeps dragging you and leading you to expect this spine tingling solo (like in TWAT), or a trademark Axl scream (also like in TWAT) that gives you goosebumps and it just never happens.
And I don't know WHAT the deal is with Axl's voice, but it sounds horrible. I'm not expecting the scratchy voice of the G'n'R heyday but I wasn't planning on hearing a guy who sounds like he's trying to impersonate Axl either.
Maybe the point of the song is too be mellow and not to be an epic.. Just a mellow piano driven song.
I agree...not every tune has to reach for the stars...i think the pace and style of this song fits the tone perfectly. Would LOVE IT if I can get the lyrics to this, I think that will even add more to the style.
I can just picture an AMAZING video for this song. I can see this appealing to a lot of people. See you don't need robot noises to appeal to a mass audience...just good, classic rock
keep in mind its a demo, I can picture a soaring guitar outro backing the vocals towards the end at 4:18
nevermind, there is a cool guitar part at the end
Exactly. Im a fan of heavy guitars and loud shit.. but I can tell when a song is good and well to me.. This is a damn good song.

BLS and me are sharing the same brain tonight....if anyone had read my thoughts on the new tracks you'd know i LOVE the attitude and rock of old GNR and of some of new songs, but when a song is just a good song, it doesn't have to be loud or epic...just quality.
Axl, god bless ya dude, you've done it again.

Here's my shot at the lyrics after a couple of listens. Sometimes there's A LOT going on at the same time and I can't make Axl out:
Guns N' Roses - Catcher in the Rye
When all is said and done,
we're not the only ones,
who look at life this way,
that's what the old folk's say,
but every time I see them,
makes me wish I had a gun.
I thought that I was crazy,
well, I guess I'd have more fun,
guess I'd have more fun.
Ooh, the Catcher in the Rye again,
ooh ooh ooh, won't let ya get away from him.
It's just another day like today.
You decide if I don't have to,
then (?)
and I won't ask you,
and anytime (?)
if it's cold outside,
(?)
Oh, oh.
Ooh, the Catcher in the Rye again,
ooh ooh ooh, won't let ya get away from him.
It's just another day like today.
When all is said and done,
we're not the only ones,
who look at life this way,
that's what the young folk's say,
as if they'd ever change,
that's not, who am I to say?
but every time I'd see them
makes me wish I had a gun.
If I thought that I was crazy,
well I guess I'd have more fun.
It's what used to be's not there for me,
and ought to find someone that belonged (insane?) like I do.
Not an ordinary day,
back in an ordinary way,
all at once this song I heard,
no longer would it play for anybody,
or anyone,
that needed coming from somebody,
needed coming from someone who cared to be
not like you, unlike me,
in an ordinary way for me,
somebody set the wheels in motion,
hearts are memories,
you want the instrument,
you were the one,
how about it?
took the body,
gave that boy a gun,
took our innocence,
beyond our stance,
(
?)

I can definitely see this being the song about John Lennon. Lots of various things I can pick out, aside from the obvious Beatles-like sound...

not bad for a first shot cock-a-roach.soup.
the last part is just amazing. Is it just me or is this song OOZING emotion from Axl. This isn't just a song he wrote to take up space on a disc, its from his soul...sorry getting deep, but this is a goooooooooood tune.

Yeah, really deep, heartfelt stuff here. If you actually listen, it's kind of a downer song, but the melody and "la la"'s have this kinda hippy-like tranqulity to them. Anyone else hear a tad bit of Blind Melon?
