Eh I'm cool with having either drummer. Saw Brain in Tacoma '02 and just saw Frank on back-to-back shows in Everett and Portland. Don't remember the '02 concert too well but Frank was killing it these last two shows. He was doing the "Guns And Roses" chant on the bass drum and him and Robin had a lot of interaction. They were slapping five and rocking hard during IRS. Was so cool to see.......

So is Brain out officially then? I thought he would do the shows close to home, since he was there at the Warfield shows.
I think his absence for the Universal City shows could be interpreted that way unless some other arrangement has been made.

Which would be another misinterpretation on the part of net fans.

I have to be honest: You guys know how much I love Brain's drumming, both inside and outside of GNR, but at this point, I think the train has left Brain at the station. Frank has gotten so much better in the recent shows and clips I've seen as compared to that UK DVD comp, and he has so much chemistry and history with the other guys. Can't believe I'm saying this, but, to me, Frank is the drummer going forward. I only hope that Brain is on most of the studio stuff.

What is his status, then? There is a difference between being under contract and part of the band. I hope he is rejoining sometime soon but the absence of his name on the official site concerns me.

What is his status, then? If he isn't even playing the shows close to home, then it appears he would just be running out the clock on his contract.
contract? status? Maybe you missed it but a certain official site said Brain being in GNR family could and would be back anytime. And like mysteron said he's on a childcareleave. When you have a damn good substitute for yourself, you'd entrust your job to them and devote yourself max to your newborn and family, wouldn't you?

As far as I know, Merck recently stated that Brain is still indeed in the band. I kind of doubt he'll be at the California shows (just a hunch). I really wanted to see him in Portland. Franks an awesome drummer but I still like Brain a lot better. Also, as I stated in another thread, I do not like the alterations (small as they may be) that Frank has made to the track Chinese Democracy.

Since nobody has said otherwise, I assume Frank and Brain are both still in the band.
Why is there a need to speculate about this subject every other week?
If Brain is taking time off to be with his family, then he's free to do so.
If he's playing any of the California shows, we'll know about it in a few days.
Either way, I suspect the shows will be amazing. It's the end of a very exciting year in the world of GN'R as far as I'm concerned.
