just wondering what would make a better dvd:
Mini DV Master (LP Mode) >

Video-4:3, 24 bit, 720x480 29.97 FPS, 7000 kp/s
Audio-
LPCM
@ 48000 HZ Stereo
or
Mini DV Master (LP Mode) > PC > 1 DVD-R
Video-4:3, 720x480 29.97 FPS,
MPEG2
Audio-
Dolby Digital
@ 48000 FZ Stereo, 256 kb/s
i am not quite sure the difference. i think this is all the info available.? any help would be fantastic.? thanks? ?

Probably the DV and LPCM (The LPCM is lossless, I believe)
But, I'm not a DVD expert, so don't take my word on it.

LPCM is uncompressed... LPCM is like WAV/FLAC/APE/SHN when Dolby is like MP3...
MPEG-2 is standard for DVDs... even though I think but am not positive that some official dvds use MPEG-4...
Dual-layer PCM is better...

hi again. need some help from the experts. which is the best out of these options:
24 bits, 720 x 480, 29.97 fps
(DVD-NTSC), 4:3
Video data rate: Variable (Max. 4000 kbps)
LPCM Audio, 48000 Hz, Stereo
5.86 GB 1 DL DVD-R
24 bits, 720 x 480, 29.97 fps
(DVD-NTSC), 4:3
Video data rate: Variable (Max. 7000 kbps)
Audio data rate: 256 kbps
Dolby Digital Audio, 48 KHz, 2/0(L,R)
7.26 GB 1 DL DVD-R
24 bits, 720 x 480, 29.97 fps
(DVD-NTSC), 4:3
Video data rate: Variable (Max. 7000 kbps)
LPCM Audio, 48000 Hz, Stereo
8.08 GB 2 DVD-R
and how do you check this information out on discs? is there a special program that tells you the quality of a dvd-r? any help would be great. thanks

third option, in my opinion. You can use a software called GSpot, which is freeware and very useful.

I aint no expert but I would choose the third option you have listed. always good to keep the audio uncompressed in my opinion, this would also make it easier for those who dont like Dual-layer.
Or if you would prefer to keep it on one disc go with the first dual-layer option and increase the max video data-rate to use up the majority of the disc.
