Now We All Know Better

« on: December 11, 2006, 03:38:37 PM »

i have heard several times that gnr have about 30-40 songs written and half of those are recorded and done
could it be that axl and company are just getting their feet wet back on the scene with this tour, and are planning on having a
long run with tours and albums without a stop
i mean its so far so good (except still no album, but they are still around and havent dissappeard either like in 93 and 02)
think about it
they have been touring now for about 8 months
then hopefully CD will come out in the very very near future
then another summer tour
then maybe another record, say maybe in late 07 early 08
then another tour
etc etc
maybe this 10 year hiatus that they were on from 93-03 (sans the 02 incident) was axl just building up for
a enormous explosion of music that will last for several years to come
lord knows the world is buzzing for them and the hype is there
i personally think if they do this, they could quite possibly pick up where they left off so many years ago

i would hope so, and all evidence that has been gathered that have come out of the bands mouth would certainly seem to point to this.

I think Axl said something like that, release an album, tour, after the album burns out, release another album, tour, etc.

Well he seems to have switched those first two steps around, then...

Chinese Democracy Is Coming Some Day!!!

« Reply #6 on: December 11, 2006, 04:45:06 PM »

I would like to hope for something like this but all I want right now is for Chinese to be released or just some information. We also have to remember Axl has done very well so far with showing up to all the shows during the 2006 tour, but can he keep it all together for up to 6 years. I would like to hope so, but  history really doubts it.

I cant see them being able to tour for 3-5 years straight though...Even with say 3 albums ready to release I dont see a market for them to return to the same cities every year

I guess they'll have to wait and see how many 'fans' give up on the band (if) the album doesn't come out this year as promised. If it doesn't come out in 2006 they might want to think about a 2-3 year tour that includes county fairs, wedding receptions, graduation parties, and bar mitzvahs.
The backlash just might be that bad.

I think they could be settling in for long run but they really need an album with songs on the radio to have the kind of long term success they would surely desire. They also could use more print publicity (a new rollingstone article/coverstory) would be a good start. All and all I am just glad they are on the road and that I have gotten to see them twice this year.

I'm not picking on you here, but:

When did the band PROMISE anything?

I never heard the words We promise, I promise, or even a solid release date.

Axl said Fall, late fall. Merck said there's 10 Tuesdays left or whatnot.

If the album got pushed back - so what? They're touring, playing new stuff, and you'd have to be pretty daft to not realize that even if it's not out in 2006, it's not far off. GNR have been getting great word of mouth on this tour. They've got 3 shows at the top of the Billboard concert chats for November. Early in 2006 they had an internet leakthat CHARTED, something which never happened before.

This band cannot live off the nostalgia circuit forever. At some point, they have to produce an album and be judged on their own material, for good or for bad. You may be happy with the shows, and for the most part they are entertaining, but this tour has not generated the buzz necessary to promise another such albumless tour in the near future. If GnR returns to Europe, they may very well find smaller and smaller crowds awaiting them;  at some point, you need the promotion of a new album to draw in new fans and justify the use of large venues.

As it stands this is the second Chinese Democracy tour in support of AFD and a few new live tracks.  Unless Axl wants to disappear for the next four years again, he needs to get this album in the stores to qualify a return to Europe and the US.

Imagine, if Axl changed his mind about everything and released 3 albums simultaneously.

That would be incredible!!!
