i just noticed too that the greatest hits album had finally dropped out of the top 100 billboard chart and is now #14 on the pop catalog chart, and is the #2 non-christmas album on the chart.

I think that is because the album was on the chart as long as allowed. They have some max time that an album can be on the top 200, after that time, the album goes to that pop catalog chart i believe.

They grossed over a million in a night, that should be a good indication as to why there is little incentive to ever release an album. He can make a shitload of money quick without having to put it all on the line and put an album out there. I wouldn't be in any hurry to jeopardize that either.

I think the good thing to look at here are the ticket prices. Most of the acts on the list are charging around 200 bucks a ticket. I like how they are keeping the prices relatively affordable for people to come out and see the show. To me this is evidence that this tour is not a cash grab, but an experience for the band the get out on the road and do what all great bands do, and that's tour. They could of easily charged 200 bucks a seat and take out the GA in Madison Square Garden, but I guess the band/management wanted the "party atmosphere" instead of the suits taking up the first 10 rows.

Some of the other shows also needed more than one night to get their high gross numbers.
Still, no matter how you dice it, seems Aerosmith and Motley are kicking some serious arse

Really impressive when you look at the ticket prices. The only ones that really "Beat them" when comparable in price was Trans Siberian... I saw them before and they're worth more than what they charge. Really cool show. Obviously not GNR, but I cant believe how expensive tickets are to see Aerosmith and fucking Crue.. that's outrageous.

The aerosmith/crue show got about 10,000 in Minneapolis last night, only a few hundred more than GNR. I consider that impressive for GNR, when you factor in no new material in 15 years, no "original" band, and not much of a supporting act to draw more fans. The show would have sold out most likely if the Crue was opening for GNR.

I have a question about those numbers for Ottawa and Toronto. Neither of those shows officially sold out I thought, I was at them, there were still tickets and a few open seats side-stage. And the number for Toronto is far below the number quoted in the press. Do they only count sales from the initial block of tickets? And why is an entire price tier missing from the Toronto show's price column?
Weird anyway, I wonder where they get their stats, but still cool to see 3 GNR shows towards to top of the list.

Yeah, hopefully someone can answer that question. The only thing I can think of is that "capacity" is measured with reserved floor seating. And since GNR is GA, they can fit more on the floor than reserved seating, thereby upping the over all percentage of capaticy. Who knows though, just a theory. But then MSG should have had more than capacity. But all in all Axl can definately afford to put some extra cheese on his whoppers.
