Guitar technical issue need help

I have a weird problem with my guitar and I dont know whats wrong with it.


On the 12th fret, If u play the top string and the A String below it, no sound comes out. Its muffled and messed up.

Every other note on that fret works however, the D,G,B, and high E work fine but the Low E and A dont work...............


Anyone have any idea of what may be causing this?


Also can u get Frets replaced on a guitar?

My B string on the 2nd fret sounds like shit..........


buying a new guitar isnt an option right now, so i need some expertise on this.

put the neck level. then press on the 12th fret. then see if the string is hitting any other frets and muffling it.

you may need to get the neck refretted.

or you can just go to a guitar store and ask to get it set up. they will fix it up so the angle of the neck and the height of the strings is perfect.

if its something else then there might be a problem with your bridge.

i doubt its something that'd require a whole new guitar.

How old's your guitar?

A setup would probably fix it fine.. mine usually costs about ?50.

if you're unlucky and its a set-neck, it might be set in crooked and you're fucked. happened to me once but see what a setup does, it should help/

refretting a guitar is expensive as removing the frets without doing damage to the guitar is not easy.

But changing one fret shouldn't be that expensive. Just as a reference one custom shop here in Finland does it for 10 euros per fret, unless they're stainless steel, which puts another 5 euros on top of it.

I've heard $20 for one fret replaced(friend prices)
Around $200-$300 for a complete fret job.

To me if it were the fret every note would be messed up and just not one or two?

Fret's really depend on "where" you play.  If you're an open chord person, the end of the neck with need work.  If you know someone that plays solos in the same couple of frets or "register" ; that area will need more attention. Bass players can avoid this by playing "flatwound" strings. Does less damage to the frets.

I got my guitar fixed.

I have a floating Tremolo and that was what was screwed up, so they locked it in place *i never use it* and they fixed all of my frets for 80 bucks.

if its just a low quality, low priced guitar, then dont bother working on it. just save up for a real good guitar....i suggest gibson all the way, NOT fender. get a les paul mahagony its only 799 now, or an SG classic faded, its like 549 now!!!

sweet D...i had something similar happen to my 15th fret on my acoustic a few years ago, chord would always buzz weird and then the high E started gettting caught up so i took it in


anyway prolly not the same now that i look at it anyway cool deal that you got it fixed for relatively cheap

You don't need a refret, just have your frets filed, or raise your action a bit - that might work.

I believe that's the case for everyone. That's why you bring your own guitar for a jam.

yeah cuz you get used to the setup on your own guitar and when someones else's is slightly different then it throws you off.

usually my problem is when other guitars strings are set up to high from the neck and my chord changes suffer cuz i gotta lift my fingers up higher I'm like "i can play this tune watch" "fuck...well i can do it at home on my own guitar when nobody is watching"

I had my Les Paul epiphone,and i tried to play RCHP's "Snow Hey Oh" on it, and It was disastrous.

I get my guitar and immediately play it with ease.
