WEEKENDER: Besides a handful of U.S. festivals, what will Alice In Chains be doing this summer?

DUVALL: We?ll be in Europe this summer, then a long fall tour in the U.S.

WEEKENDER: Are you planning to record a second album with this lineup?

DUVALL : We are, but we?ve got a lot of water to sail before we do that. There?s a lot of shows. But yeah, generally speaking, yeah, we?re excited about the future. I don?t anticipate some long layoff.

have fun guys, its gonna ROCK!  i'm surprised they're already talking about a new album. i just relistened to degradation trip and there was some great stuff on there, some very AIC influenced and some not so much, but all cool.  highly recommended!

Degradation trip and Boggy Depot are damn good albums - Very much in the mold of some AIC's other songs -  I think the new one is not much different from those two either, to be honest. It's good to see them back producing quality stuff

A couple of interviews with William DuVall posted today.

"I never got to meet him," DuVall says of Staley. "But I'm told we would have gotten along famously."

DuVall says he respects Staley, but he's doing his own thing with the band.

"Layne was great," he says. "He was fantastic.

"But the important thing for me is, I always go out there as myself."

Question: How does the new album fit in with the band's catalog?

Answer: Very well. In the shows, the new songs that we play fit in really well with the set. Being as objective as I can be, the real feedback is what we get at the shows. You're seeing the reactions of thousands of people, and creating this self-perpetuating wave of energy with the audience. It's as though you have not broken stride ? it's great.

Q: What's the future hold for the band?

A: This album cycle has a ways to go ? a lot more shows. Don't miss this because it's really been four years in the making, and it's a powerful thing. After this winds down, if I would hazard a guess, there won't be a long layoff. We're probably going to want to get right back to it.
