ok basically for sociology. i chose to do how the media blames artists for promoting things like voilence etc.

for example

marilyn manson columbine, we all know now its not his fault however the media tried to blame him. Anyways i need to get more things like this

i need 2 good articles in which i can do a sociology essay on. WE have to "assess" n shit like that, also i need to take 2 views, my oppinion, and a sociological view, i chose the hypodermic syringe model theory for this. Basically that is in basic

you inject someone and that comes out of them, so translated to voilence that means "kid watches man shoot someone on TV, he does that when hes older". This isnt my oppinion but i need to use this view for a sociological way to do it.

anyone got any ideas or good links for me? thanks

interesting one.  First thing I thought when I read this was that Marilyn Manson did do a great interview with the NME back when he was getting all the blame for Colombine.  It was a really good read and delved right into what you're talking about. Try and get a back issue if you can, as that might be helpful.  If you are not UK based, I can try and find a link for you to try and get a back issue of it?

He did a great interview with Rolling Stone also.

Some of the media tried to place blame on Ozzy because a couple of idiot families claimed that his song Suicide Solution caused their teenagers to commit suicide.

Ozzy used to get picked on a lot by the religious/conservative media in the past.  But that was before MManson and then gangster rap music became dominant. In fact, it's interesting to see how the media picks an artist to be 'the evil one', the one kids should stay away from, etc.

Its amazing that people can still claim there is some kind of link

One wonders how they would explain murder 100 years ago - wait, Manson cds were to blame there as well?

Metal attracts people that are emotional vulnerable - its those pre-existing emotional issues that people should be focused on.

And where do they come from? Abysmal schools, family break ups, a society obsessed with materialism and ''goals''

But solving those kind of problems is hard - so lets blame a symptom instead!

With attempts to cure a? disease you treat the cause i.e the bacteria, you dont focus on the symptom i.e the cough

I don't have time right now to explain why Izzy is wrong, maybe some other time.

Mrlee - don't make your essay too biased.  Kids being raised on violent messages are definately going to take in those messages, dismissing the issue entirely will get you no marks.

Maybe you could look at violent computer games too - particularly GTA - , there have been a lot of studies into this recently that you could look at.
