Meaning behind "I Used to Love Her"

I read somewhere that "I Used to Love Her" was actually about Axl having to euthanize his dog.
Does anyone know if this is true?

I heard the same thing back in high school - that the line "she bitched so much" was actually "she bit so much."  However, I think Axl's intro on the Live Era album debunks that theory pretty solidly.
