« on: December 02, 2006, 06:11:29 PM »

Anyone heard of GNR covering any other song than ("I Did You No Wrong")

Motley Crue, Megadeth all covered em but what about Guns?

I did you no wrong wasn't really a cover.... Axl is on a remake of the song which was done by Steve Jones, who was in the Sex Pistols.

But to answer your question, no they did not do any other Sex Pistols stuff, except for Black Leather

VR covered "Bodies".? It was released as a B-Side single along with Slither if I'm not mistaken.? Don't know if that counts.

BTW, that's my favorite Sex Pistols tune.

Damn right it does, I have Contraband and Bodies is VERY GOOD. Did you get the intro to it when someone introduce VR in a similar way to GNR @ the Ritz back in the 80s

....and of course, lest we forget Duff and Matt were in the band "Neurotic Outsiders" along with Johnny Taylor and Steve Jones. ?I guess that's kind of a Sex Pistols / Guns N' Roses mix with a dash of Duran Duran.

I remember Steve Jones, Duff, Matt, Ted Andreadis? and Iggy Pop put on a great performance of Black Leather and Raw Power at the Hard Rock Cafe in Las Vegas just before the formation of Neurotic Outsiders. ?Izzy Stradlin and Johnny Taylor also performed at the event. ?I hope this is not too OT...

Here is a link with a cool clip.

I wish the Black Leather performance was on You-tube as well, but it's not.? Does anyone have it?? As far as I can tell, these were the only semi-GNR live performances of Spaghetti Incident? material, not counting "Attitude" which was played regularly during the "Use Your Illusion" tour.

Duff and Matt also played some really cool tunes with Billy Idol that night.  Rebell yell and another song I wish I knew the name of.  At the end of the night, Duff, Matt, and Izzy played with Bo Didley and B.B. King.  'Twas a night to remember.  Wish I was there....

Can't help but mention this but the Pistols were active for 2 years at most. Anyone know of a more contriversial band than this.  GNR are my No.1 since I was a kid in the 80s and still are now. Pistols are my No.2 but they caused more contriversial shit during their day.

Anyone know of similar bands in short time spans?

On August 20, 1988, at the Castle Donington Park, in Donington, England, on the infamous Monsters Of Rock Festival where 2 fans died in the audience during GN'R's set, Axl & Lars Ulrich from Metallica joined Megadeth and performed the Sex Pistols cover "Anarchy In The UK".

I took this info from www.gnrontour.com
it is a great site, just go there and find everything about what songs GNR played and when.

G N' R also used Sid Vicious's cover version of My way as opening song for some shows in 1991.

I hearded this song a while back. The quality of the song wasn't that great but it was nice to listen to.
