No Question that Don McLean's American Pie is on that list.

Skynyrd's Sweet Home Alabama is a great choice, too.

I'd also add:

You Shook Me All Night Long

Nine Inch Nails- The Day The World Went Away

There's no doubt that this is a great song, and it's all down to personal taste, but how is this a top 5 drunk sing-along song?

Last time I checked I'm entitled to my own opinion, plus every song means something different to everybody so this is a completely ambiguous thread.... thus there are no "terrible choices."

The thread isn't "list your favourite songs" or "top 5 songs you can't stop listening to".  If you listed those songs in one of those threads I wouldn't think twice about it... It's also not a song that YOU personally sing along with while drunk, it's a communal thing.

If less than 1% of people will sing a long to the song, that's a terrible choice in my opinion.  It also doesn't mean the song is bad, just that it doesn't rank high as a "drunken sing along".  Actually, I can't believe this even needs explaining.

ok...i can see where you are coming from in that respect.  But on the same token these are the  top five songs that my friends and I listen to while drinking.  If you/ 99% of the population can't relate to these songs thats fine, i just wanted to share what I/ my friends felt were the top 5 drinking songs.

Yeah, I could see why people were posting the songs they did... it just sucks that so many threads in this section turn into a bunch of "lists" with no discussion or comments.   Undecided

Piano Man by Billy Joel is a huge huge sing a long here.  It's amazing at how many rednecks know the words to this song.

You Shook Me All Night Long by AC/DC also.

Family Tradition by Hank Williams Jr.

Friends In Low Places by Garth Brooks (I utterly hate this song, but have yet to find a person that doens't know it)

Nightrain is probably the most popular GNR song.

I personally love Whiskey In The Jar though by Thin Lizzy.  My fav. drunken sing a long right there!

My other three picks are:
 - Skid Row - 18 And Life
