They're good

If nothing else, - this is a good sign that the band is committed to the tour

lol I saw this band open for Faith No More about en eon ago...if it's the same Helmet.?

LittleFly - I saw them on this tour, too, and they sucked BAD.  People were booing them.  I'm not a fan.

I like Helmet, but their fans suck: http://helmetmusic.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=168? rant

Guns n' roses fans have not and will never have that pitiful "I love my arty alternative band so much" attitude!

Well, no - they have their own problems that are nothing to be proud of, though.  Smiley

Axl WOULD NOT kick a band like Helmet off the bill........

Helmet is the most respectable opener they had in a LONG time.

I'm one of the FEW for some reason who thought Papa Roach was a VERY respectable opener.  I got to see there last couple songs at MSG.  Thought they were great.  Never heard of the EODM, and although I don't really agree with them being kicked off the tour after ONE night, I can't say I'm sorry to see them go.  And like many have stated, as for Helmet I am only familiar with "Unsung".  But that song rocks, so they must have some other good stuff.  Very good choice to open.  Hope all goes well.

Helmet, like GNR has only 1 original member, lead singer/songwriter Page Hamilton.

I remember them from '92 when they had the "Meantime" album out. They were one of the 1st metal type bands to come out that looked like average guys with short hair and street clothes.

That's an interesting fact.  I knew they had lost SOME members, but not all.

Hamilton has always been most the creative impetus behind helmet, lyrics/main guitar riffs... etc...

Page was more to Helmet than what Axl was to original gnr...

Axl wrote the lyrics, has the great voice..

Page wrote the lyrics, main riffs, and has a pretty versatile voice...

although page's lyrics/voice never matched Axl's in my opinion. peace

I distinctly remember Helmet's Page Hamilton stating in an interview (and this was years ago, so don't ask me when) that he hated Guns n Roses.  So sounds like it could be another conflict to me.

IMO Helmet ruined the show last night.  Baz had the crowd on their feet the entire set.  They came on and were a total mood killer.  I would have much rather sat there with the house music.

And this is coming from a guy who has always thought the more music the better.  I like to listen to the instruments and just enjoy a band that I'm not used to but this was horrid, unlistenable.  They looked pretty sheepish walking off the stage to boos from nice farmers from Iowa, they'll get ripped apart in an actual city.

Helmet is basically hard, repetitive rock.  They're absolutely fantastic.

Check this video from the warped tour and when 1:15 rolls around, they hit HARD.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dCjAtXKvosc

You will love them.
