Cool... That gives me another reason to go check out the Oakland show...

Helmet used to put on a great show back in the day. Saw them with Sepultura and Ministry in '93 and it was brutal. Couldn't really get into their last album but I'm definitely intrigued enough to check out their new thing...

Download these tracks

Meantime
Unsung
Give it
Milquetoast
Biscuits for smut
turned out
ironhead

they have tons of other good ones too, i'd pay $25.00 just to see helmet.

The album "meantime" is essential to any metal collection.. I GUARANTEE you Axl Rose has a lot of respect for this band/page hamilton.

Helmet is a good choice. So was EODM.

I'm actualy impressed with with these picks really. I wonder whether someone at GNR has fine good taste or maybe mainstream bands aren't interested in openning for GNR anymore...

My band played at a show with Helmet last Summer. They were by far the loudest band I have ever heard in my life. It was actually painful, so I left.

GREAT band though!

same here - good tune, but that was like, a decade ago? hehe  Still a talented band - I'm sure it'll be a good show.  While i'm not a fan by any means I would consider going for the opening act in this case.

Helmet is an awsome band, I saw them last year at Fields of Rock in Nijmegen. Really a great show.

helmet ruled in the 90's with songs like 'unsung' and 'in the meantime'. they opened the gates for all the nu-metal noise. really hard rocking low-noise guitars and very tight drumming. i always loved them, last time i saw them was 2 years ago in holland at the Fields of rock festival. they're overtheir high point now, but still worth listening to.

Page Hamilton (Lead Singer) has been a coveted guitar player by Trent Reznor, Maynard J.Keenan, etc... in Helmet he typically just sticks to pretty heavy riffs, however he is one of the most versatile guitar players out there... he can play anything, but he's not one of those guys that just goes nuts with solos to show off.... Helmet is also PURE MUSIC, no FUCKING IMAGE.. Page used to hop on stage decked out in khaki's/polo shirt and just rock the fuck out....
