I had free tickets to a Marilyn Manson show in 1996...I was hesitant about going, not being a Manson fan in any way.
I had heard that Helmet was opening, so I went. I was only familiar with 1-2 of their songs, but I figured I would check it out.
Helmet owned--they were one of the best, if not the best, open acts I have ever seen. They blew Manson off the stage. I left before Manson's set was over.
I think Guns and Helmet will be a great bill...I really wish they were coming within 300 miles of my town!

I am starting to remember them from the 90's now, they were pretty good! Have fun everyone who is going to see them and treat them nicer than the Pigeons!

The album "Strap it On" is a hell of an album as well....Pretty much the early seeds of the sound they solidified with the "Meantime" record.

This is for BabyGorilla and the people like him. Before all my posts about subjective matters there should be an IMO before the post. I took this sig down but of course it has to go back up.

This is pretty cool.. i'm kinda impressed they found them so fast. I like their sound, should be a good add to the tour. i'd rather have EODM though but in any case, i can't wait to see them!!!

I like Helmet, but their fans suck: http://helmetmusic.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=168 Guns n' roses fans have not and will never have that pitiful "I love my arty alternative band so much" attitude!

Helmet is a great band. they broke up moments before the big rap metal scene where they probably would have done very well since they are all extremely talented musicians unlike the crap that was thrown at us on the radio.
If you haven't heard helmet, then start with "Aftertaste" - it's by far the most accessible of their albums. (especially the song "Nowhere Fast"). Then I would check out "Betty" and "Meantime." Their 2004 album is just okay...have not heard the new one yet.
Now if they would just resurrect Quicksand...then that would be a bill.
