KILLSWITCH ENGAGE's new album, "As Daylight Dies", sold just under 60,000 copies in the United States during its first week of release to debut at position No. 32 on next week's The Billboard 200 chart. The CD is the follow up to 2004's Grammy-nominated album "The End of Heartache", which is nearly certified gold and 2005's gold-selling DVD "(Set This) World Ablaze".

In other news, ROCK STAR SUPERNOVA ? the band featuring Tommy Lee (M?TLEY CR?E), Jason Newsted (VOIVOD, ex-METALLICA) and Gilby Clarke (ex-GUNS N' ROSES) and vocalist Lukas Rossi ? sold less than 17,000 copies of its self-titled debut to land at No. 101 on next week's chart.

The following are notable heavy metal/hard rock U.S. sales debuts for the week ending November 26, 2006, as reported by Nielsen SoundScan (all CD figures are rounded to the nearest thousand, except numbers under 1,000, which are rounded to the nearest hundred; The Billboard 200 chart position included, where applicable):

KILLSWITCH ENGAGE ? "As Daylight Dies": 60,000 (#32)
ROCK STAR SUPERNOVA ? "Rock Star Supernova": 17,000 (#101)
P.O.D. ? "Greatest Hits": 10,000 (#152)
RE:IGNITION ? "Empty Heart Loaded Gun": less than 50
MANOWAR ? "The Day The Earth Shook - The Absolute Power" DVD: less than 300

Oh my God-that is terrible-I would be curious to know what INXS first week sales are -Tommy Lee's last solo album opened better than this-they had all the pub in the world with a prime time show

That's gotta sting...The show had decent ratings, from what i understand....Guess Joe Public didn't agree with the end result.

thye got fucked by their record company.
NO promotion what so ever! thats why it sold so bad.

one would think that with names like that in a band Epic would try to up the sales alittle with some promotion, but nooo!

thats what happends when an album is released without promo and notice...

The songs suck plain and simple.  Lukas was not the right choice.

yeah, but that was only finding the singer.

there wasnt a release date relvead at the show. wich is my point, only the really interested would know about it and its release date.

Lukas is not the problem on the album. The problem is the songwriting is poor..which is what happens when Gilby is your lead songwriter

Actually Gilby wasn't the main song writer with this album. He wrote a few tracks but the majoriy of it was Butch Walker, Tommy Lee and Scott Humphrey ( He writes a lot with Rob Zombie).

I picked up this album a week after it was released and it wasn't even in the new release section at Best Buy. Which is very suprising b/c they usually leave new cds out in the featured section longer than that.

But Captain Pal is right, they got zero promotion, ever here in Canada. Which kinda sucks b/c I feel bad for Gilby, Jason, and even Lucas.

I couldn't give a rats ass about tommy,  maybe he should go back to college and study marketing this time  hihi

It seemed like everyone was "pretty", young-I really didn't care for anoyne much except for one or two of them-I'll buy the album, but was there even a single released or video made? I always felt like Gilby's solo records started out good, then not so good-this thing sounded like a great idea at the beginning to me, but as much as I like Gilby, I stopped watching the show-it just lasted too long-I think you know right away whether or not you will like a singer

Cheesy How could an album like this sell so little?

But, I saw no promotion at all, and I never heard a Supernova song on the radio until earlier this week.

I enjoyed this album - catchy, pop-rock, sounds great in my opinion!
