lstn mfx 2 diz song dat shud b hurd

« on: November 26, 2006, 05:26:42 PM »

i was thinking about maybe someone could put together the best live versions of every song on AFD to one officall live fan favourite list or something..

so we start by nominate each song that we think should be on this list from 1986 to 2006, of course there must be good audio from the one you nominate, and you can't nominate a song just because it was played when you saw them in 88 and you thought that was great.. so from welcome to the jungle every song to rocket queen as the last. you can start nominate which ever you like

this would work kinda like "Neemo's survivor movie series" in "the jungle"

so if i would have start with an example and nominates "welcome to the jungle from rock am ring 2006"

if you don't know what songs there are on AFD, these are the ones you should nominate ok
1. Welcome to the Jungle
2.It's So Easy
3.Nightrain
4.Out Ta Get Me
5.Mr. Brownstone
6.Paradise Ciaty
7.My Michelle
8.Think About You
9.Sweet Child O'Mine
10.You're Crazy
11.Anything Goes
12.Rocket queen

whaddya guys think?

I like the Rocket Queen from Tokyo 1988 and My Michelle from RIR III.

Nightrain from Rock Am Ring.

SCOM from Roxy (I think that was 1986)

Ill think of more later.

I did this awhile back....

1. Welcome To The Jungle (Rock Am Ring 2006)
2. It's So Easy (Boston 2002)
3. Nightrain (Rock Am Ring 2006)
4. Out Ta Get Me (Ritz '88)
5. Mr. Brownstone (Oklahoma '92)
6. Paradise City (Rock Am Ring 2006)
7. My Michelle [feat. Baz] (Rock Am Ring 2006)
8. Think About You (Boston 2002)
9. Sweet Child O' Mine (Oklahoma '92)
10. You're Crazy (London '87)
11. Anything Goes (London '87)
12. Rocket Queen (Tokyo '92)

I know alot of those are from the same shows, but for me, coincidentally most of those shows had strong versions of various songs.

I also did live cuts for GN'R Lies, and Use Your Illusion I & II.

I love It's So Easy from Rio 2001... I like he sings it and how he kicks the guy out... And I have never seen a really good performance live of Sweet Child O' Mine...

I like this idea and I've already done this probably 5 times over the years by myself.  It's always fun though searching for the best versions of songs, especially when you have like 500 different 'Mr. Brownstones' in your collection.  Too bad they all aren't soundboards though or this could take a year to properly do.

I have followed some these steps to do my compilation the best way I can:

01) Guns n' Roses live versions only (that means no recordings after September 31, 1991)  yes
02) No fake Guns n' Roses live versions are allowed (i.e. no "Live like a Suicide" and no "Live Era 87-93")  no
03) No "Guns n' Roses II" versions are allowed (no "Guns n' Roses revisited", no "Axl' Roses")  rofl
04) No more than 3 tracks recorded on the same show/date/location (if possible)  ok
05) No repetition of the exact album tracklist (that would be boring)  Wink
06) Cool non-album tracks from Appetite Era gigs are allowed  (lots of them!)  ok
07) Only top sound quality tracks are allowed (Audience "A" quality, Broadcasts and Soundboards)  yes
08) I am not good enough to make a 12 song list so I did a double CD  hihi
09) No Anything Goes (I don't know any top quality live recording of the song. If you know any, PLEASE let me know!)

and last but not least...

10) Guns n' Roses is the best band in the world and played dozens of magnificent shows, so this is a provisory list (if anyone asks me to do this again tomorrow it will be different!)   Grin

"As Long as We Can Make it to the Show Tonight" (2CD)

01- It's So Easy (Dane County Coliseum, Madison, WI, USA, 1987, from the "Bad Language" boot - please don't forget to add the "blow my troath" Axl intro)
02. Move to the City (Nakano Sunplaza, Tokyo, Japan, 1988, from the "3rd Gig" boot)
03. Think About You (Music Machine, Los Angeles, CA, USA, 1986, from the "..........." boot)
04. Mr. Brownstone (Perkins Palace, Pasadena, CA, USA, 1987, from the "California X-Mas/Happy New Year" Boot - important: don't forget to add the "Rock Star" rant that comes before the song)

New Gn'R hater  Grin And Izzy left on August 31, 1991... and technically, to be 'real' Gn'R, last show would have to be Farm Aid % NO Madison, WI 12-19-87 cuz Steven was not on drums (I know, it's a great show, but rules are rules) and this is Appetite for destruction live version, not Appetite for Lies & Illusions...

I consider GNR up till September 31 1991. yes
I like Adler but I can listen to Matt. ok
I don't like Dizzy but I can listen to him (he was pretty quiet in 1991). hihi
I almost like Gilby (now) but I can't take Tracy, Roberta, Teddy Zig Zag and all the other members of the circus. drool
The new band is Axl solo doing GNR covers. yes
If he comes to town I go in every show.  ok
If he comes 500 miles away from me I drive to the shows.  yes
But his band ain't GNR and even the rocks at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean know that.  rofl

This is a really cool idea. I'm not enough of an authority to suggest particular dates, but I look forward to downloading the finished results.
