Whoa there's a lot of cock talk in that last post....but sheesh..I'm not so much anti-American Idol as I am anti-Daughtry because this guy sucks so much ass.? AI has spawned some pretty damn good singers like Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson (hey her image might be shit, but she can sing her ass off).? If Slash would have jammed on Taylor Hicks album, I wouldn't have minded, but that Daughtry dude is just shit....he's everything that's wrong with "rock 'n roll" music these days.
And yes Queen was on American Idol.......Freddie's dead, but the remaining members were on the show and that constitutes their approval of it.
Wouldnt have done it if Freddie were alive.
Taylor Hicks is worse than Daughtry
Seriously
I dont want Slash turning into a joke LIke Dave Navarro
That's a very opinionated statement, because if anyone....Freddie was a huge fan of music and anyone that could sing. I guarantee Freddie would have been right up there beside Simon commenting on how he thought the singers on AI did.

right on.
Just because the guy was on american idol doesnt mean shit, he was trying to get a record deal and hes a good singer. How well he writes is a different story.
Was Slash selling out when he played on some MJ songs too?
Maybe he likes to play guitar in is spare time with people who want a decent solo on their record... nah only sellouts and losers do that

The song is simple, but, I like the solo and what slash brought on this song!! He has a couple squeals that remind me of Zakk Wylde! Its in Drop D, with a half step down, so C#... There are some cool fills slash does and the solo is awesome. He is such an awesome player. Its like nickelback music, but Slash takes that song to another level! It rocks in my opinion, because Slash makes it rock. Clive asked him, so he did it, big deal.

I agree! It is pretty dam good! Take away the solo's and the song is so cut and dry, but Slash adds so much! I love it!

I don't watch American Idol, but I've heard this album isn't bad. Not that that means anything...though I'll check out a Slash guest appearance.

just wondering, is clive davis behind daughtry's album? i wonder if slash did this as a favor to him?
the album debuted at #3 with over 300K sold. top first week for a rock debut in at least 15 years (soundscan era).

freddie mercury would not have gone on american idol. god damn do some of you even know what american idol is? the artists that win have little to no creative freedom and they have to do exactly what the record company wants. im sure there is some sort of contract they have to sign before they hit tv. freddie mercury would know this and would never go on the show.

It's just too fuckin' funny seeing all of you guys (especially D) judging the song before listening to it. You know, the song is actually pretty good. God damn, some of you were acting like Slash was playing for Jessica Simpson. Too bad you judged the material before listening to it.
You get all frustrated when people speak out unbalanced opinions on Guns N' Roses but then in turn do the same shit when it comes to Daughtry, unbelievable. If you hear it and don't like it, then fine, but don't just come on here blasting the shit away without giving the tune a chance.

Yeah, V-Revolver used to hold that record (ironically).

Haha I'm still laughing at you people....Let me ask you this...Do you even know who Freddie Mercury is? He wasn't some hardcore "never sell out" rock n roll badass that flipped the corporate birds off. Freddie was a singer. He sung rock music, opera music, pop/dance music and a variety of other genres. He collaborated with so many different genres of music including Michael Jackson, David Bowie, etc.
Freddie's passion was singing and he was as supportive as anyone else would have been. I am willing to bet my life that Freddie would have been up on that American Idol stage cheering and jeering his flamboyant ass off.
American Idol is a singing competition. Sure most of the people on there aren't what style of music you like, but I must say the show has forcasted some talent over the past few seasons. As for contracts, the remaining 16 I believe are offered a spot on the tour...win/lose. That's nothing any different than an artist signing up for a tour.

This song isn’t great. I think it is pretty standard. I probably wouldn’t even listen to it twice if had not been for the man on guitar. So Slash does give it something extra. Not enough to make it great, but it makes it better. That is my heart doing the talking not my brain. Once a fan… always a fan. But that has been known to cloud my judgement in the past. So the song migth be even worse than standard.
Just to make myself perfectly clear… I’m not really bashing Slash’s way of playing . I just didn’t like neither the song nor Daughtry’s vocals. And I don't feel that this song give Slash any credit so I don't understand why he had to do it , but how can somone know something like that before they have entered the studio and recorded the track.
On the question of what Mercury would have done? Flamboyant as he was… he probably would have loved Idol.
