you can hear it much better in the audio files that he took directly from his phone.
Plus, you still have the receptionist evidence?
Why doesn't he post those?
Still sounds like Boston 02 to me.

How anybody could listen to that mess and say it was "studio" was beyond me.
That's exactly what I was going to say. It is impossible to tell in that clip.
I personally think the whole story was a bunch of BS.

I don't usually subscribe to the bullshit rumors that have flooded the boards over the last six months or so, but this one I do beleive is real.? I haven't listened to the clips in a while, but the lyrics sounded much better than the live versions we have (hitting higher notes, etc.) and the guitars were different.? Also, several people from the boards called the building in question and verified that it is common for them to be blasting LOUD music from the balcony where the guy heard it from.? It would just be so unbeleivable that this guy finds this acutal building, video/audio records it, spends 3059784357843 hours doctoring up live mixes and then reducing them again to sound like a crappy cell phone, and then uploading them here.? And then to top it all off, people from the boards call people working the reception in the building (it was more than one receptionist, actually) and they verify that it is common for music to be played up there.?
it is not a fake.
Not to argue the authenticity of the clip, but anyone can put enough background noise over Boston '02 and claim that it's studio. Why, people still seem to think the clips from that commercial were studio versions, even though it's never been confirmed. I'd be willing to take some static hiss and speaker-blowout noises and street noise and put it over those live tracks. I blare em from my little Dodge Neon all the time, and it sounds damn good when I'm standing by the car in a parking lot... Who knows?
And of course, we can't necessarily believe Geffen management... People say things all the time. It might've happened. But if it was really true, I'd have thought it would merit some news somewhere other than a fanboard on the internet.

The guy went about his investigation the wrong way. Simply calling up a receptionist or marketing lackey and explaining that you happen to hear something coming out of the window as you walked by wouldn't exactly compel them to find out what exactly was played.
We will never know what was going on in that building. Even if we did, it would have no effect on the wait. It is still laborious with increasingly foggy prospects for 2006.
Nice story though.

I can't even hear that it is the blues. How can a recording be that bad?
can you not hear "i don't know just what i should do, everywhere i go i see you" in this clip?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1pZ4SGZW_SQ
i think it's the "everywhere" that makes me belive this is studio
Yup same here, Ive never heard him sing the little "everywhere" bit as good as that, so I believe it to be true

Several different people from the board called and yes, it was recorded.
like I said, I don\'t beleive most of the bullshit rumors that fly around on these boards, but this one I do buy. there are too many lines of evidence for this to be fake.

I can hear it perfectly fine. I don't get what the big deal is. Maybe you just need a better sound system on your computer. The vocals were centralized when I played it and I could make it all out very well. And having heard the song literally thousands of times in all its various live incarnations, I know there's no existing bootleg or soundboard recording with the vocals sounding like that during the "youuu" bit. It's very clearly studio.
And MrVics has a strong reputation and the receptionist at Geffen said music is played from the balcony all the time. He recorded the conversation.
Think about it. If he was lying about this, that means he'd have to have called up Geffen beforehand, asked them where music is played from (hoping they actually do play music outside, and why would anyone ever assume this?), and then fabricated a story about hearing the music from a balcony on the side of the building.
It's real. Deal with it.
