There are no tuesdays left in 2006 and/or 2007!!!

« on: November 23, 2006, 03:25:58 PM »

what had happened to all the industrial influences from the late 90s?
back in 2001 OMG, CD, Silkworms and Rhiad were played.... All Industrial songs.
and now we are left only with CD, and Better(Which is not completely industrial)...

is it possible that the industrial has been scraped?
there was that 99 interview where Axl says he has 2 albums worth of material, and that one would be industrial.
are there any chance that the industrial influenced album will ever surface, because from the looks of it, the influence of industrial will be minor on this album.

Axl said himself back in 2001 that the industrial flavours like OMG wouldn't make the cut...

But I don't see Rhiad as industrial and the song was played in 2002 and it's still on the setlist, altought not played this year yet.

Rhiad always reminded me of Immigrant Song. Not very industrial.

Industrial music is out, so there's no reason to release industrial songs. Better is more heavy-emo, which is big right now.

I hope we get some sort of a Leftovers CD with the industrial... I was really looking forward to it back in 2000...
I guess everything about GNR I was looking forward in 2000 has changed by now....

LOL, yea those crappy GNR songs from that era were a far cry from industrial, and better is not emo.  i don't know how people can make these comparisons.  it almost seems to me that people on the boards start saying "gnr sounds industrial" or "gnr sounds emo" and it sticks, and everyone starts saying that even if they have never heard industrail or emo or whatever.

so, I'll say it again: GNR was never anything close to industrial or emo!

I remember when Oh My God first came out. I didnt like the song that much. But now i love it! Im sure, that if Oh My god came out today, the revirw of the song would have been alot better.

I dont think we could put GnR in a industrial gener. But there sure is much more industiral elements in the music then begfore. And i think thats great!
Oh My God, is metal to me..

its not metal or hard rock, its heaviest song GNR ever did, but it cant be called hard rock...
maybe industrial rock, but not pure rock.

Better is also not a rock song in a classical sence.

Heavy was actually genere name i was looking fore..

Oh My God is Heavy.

The thing with GnR is, that you cant put all theyr music in one genere.. they have a wide spectre..
Some songs you can concier as metal, som pure rock n roll song, hard rock  so on..

Damn, I was hoping there'd be a few more industrial type songs, I really like the diversity we've heard so far, there's quite a bit of it. "Rhiad".. we haven't heard a clear enough bootleg of it, but it does sound like it has a bit of an electronic undertone.. The riff just reminds me a bit of NIN as well... "Oh My God" is a killer song, I listen to it alot. It's a big progression musically but I think it would have had more appeal if it was produced better.. I don't mind it the way it is but I'm sure it'd have much more impact if the guitars were alot more in your face and abrasive, and the drums especially, I think if they were alot louder or bought forward in the mix it would give the song alot more punch.. There's so many diffferent layers in that one song, but they didn't overdo it or get carried away with it, it all fits in nicely and compliments the song. That's just what i think anyway

And I have no reason to doubt that all the material they recorded over the years should ultimately be released. There's no question of quality, they've recorded multiple times with different lineups in the studio, I see no reason why, well maybe even 20 or 30 years from now, we get a "Chinese Democracy sessions" box set, even if a large majority of it is alternate recordings of the same songs..

Since when does it matter if a particular music genre is 'in' or 'out'. Release whatever sounds good.

I like the thought of this new song Baz mentioned, the one where Axl has almost death metal vocals over a slow grinding guitar

I want Axl to push the boundaries with this album, after all he's spent long enough on it

Please, tell me where it has a bit of an electronic undertone. All I hear is rockin' drums, bass, guitars (sometimes with lot of wha) and just a regular synth effect (nothing far from the one used on Better).

I don't know.. I haven't listened to that song for a while.. maybe I should have just kept it at "industrial".. just the drum feel..the heavily wahed guitars, the rythmn the guitars are playing.. its just the feel I get it from it.. I can almost imagine the elements of a potential studio version that they're trying to replicate live..Just like how they play "Oh My God" live.. the studio version has a live drum and a programmed pattern.. and it almost feels like that kind of influence is on this song as well. Sorry if it didn't seem clear

I don't think he said those in the interview.

......I wouldn't say it's like, you know, that we recorded a double album, or that we have all of our scraps to be the second one. There is a distinct difference in sound. The second leans probably a little more to aggressive electronica with full guitars, where the first one is definitely more guitar-based.

Hmmm....From the sound of this description, maybe we are seeing the second one first.  Grin
