Universal had nothing to do with Jay Z's release so what does it matter?

I don't mean this in a negative way or critical to them at all, but seriously some days I just can't understand why everything around the album is so unstable. The band are playing shows close to packed houses every night, the crowd loves them, pretty good ticket sales etc. People like the new songs, but of course they're not going to get a big reaction, because nobody's heard them before. Not everybody knows about demos or live bootleg recordings or whatever. I can't see why, considering how far they are now, they can't even just put a single out to test the waters. Hell, don't even put a single out, how about a track for download? Putting "Better" on the band's website as a free streaming download or something like that? It's a bit more intimate, not as grand scale as the "unveiling of the brand new single", and that way every GNR fan can just go to the website and bang, check out the track there and repeat it until it is engraved into their mind. And then radio stations, press magazines can publish the information, it's nothing to make a big deal out of, more like "hey by the way, Guns and roses have a new track up for download, check it out, it'll be on the next album", alot more informal rather than a grand fanfare. They're already playing the new tracks live, people are going to hear it at the concert and go "thats great.. where can i hear it again", but they won't be able to find it because not everybody knows or cares about limewire or file sharing.. they might want to buy a cd or check up on itunes..

I was thinking this the other day too, and maybe even also put up one of the songs we haven't heard (assuming any are finished.) Even if the album release isn't imminent, it would mean people recognizing new stuff at shows, and may even head off the alleged mass exodus from the messageboards....or maybe not.

This is a great point that Im glad you raised.

I saw tons of people at the Toronto and Ottawa shows who were seriously entranced by the new songs despite not knowing any of the lyrics.

How is Axl expecting to make a profit off his master work, if even the most casual of the casual listeners aren't able purchase the new album because it's not available, and the guy at the local record store has 0 information on it.. Undecided

He needs to get this record on shelves so the people going to these shows and hearing the new songs for the first time can pick up the album and fall in love with the new songs so that they'll be enticed enough to tell all there friends, and go see more shows ok

Thanks for your understanding. Even if the album's not ready yet, all these shows people are going to on the tour right now, they're playing all these new songs, but people aren't going to know what they are. If there was some sort of a release or a single or something to point them in the direction of the next album, rather than anonymous rumours and speculation and unauthorized downloads, it'd be alot more enticing for the fans. they can go to the website and check out a free track, to have some sort of reassurance that they will indeed hear those new songs they liked on an eventual album, and keep fans coming back to gunsnroses.com for more news and downloads..and yeah, i don't know much about marketing or promotional strategies, but it would be alot more definite and reassuring. i get so many people who tell me that they go online but all they see is rumours and speculation and forums with people just bashing  the band and how its never going to come out.... and if they do hear any music, the only direction they've got is to try to find live bootlegs or the demo downloads that everybody else talks about, and that further encourages them to support unauthorized share of music, and yeah, it will harm their reputation and fans respect for them even more, rather than being turned off by criticism and negativity and things like that.

P.S. i know that bands debut new songs at shows that people haven't heard, but with all due respect, those songs end up being released ultimately, and, again, without any offense intended to how GNR work, at least if they go onto the net, they can find stable, credible information about where those songs came from, where it will end up, and they will keep persuing it.

I highly doubt that Jay Z, has anything to do with the GNR release, hell I rad today a few reviews of his album, and alot were less than flattering, in fact in the post (NY), the writer, said or alluded to perhaps he shoulda waited a lil longer to make it right.lol

I just found that funny. CD will come when it does, and I still am of the feeling we could have it by the end of the yr. And I sure as hell wouldn't be crying if it was the first quarter of 07. Cause Axl has taken the time to make it right. And doesn't need to be doing Ellen show, or other nonsense to promote it. How fucking funny it as to have pres, Clinton, Bon Jovi and jay z, , or at least watching the train wreck on Ellen today!.lol

I think Triumph the Insult Comic Dog should interview Axl, that would be a heck of a lot more interesting Grin

That would be awsome. But give Howard Stern the interview because at least Howard has enough balls to straighten Axl out. Anybody else will just softball the interview.
